I'll repeat what I've said several times before:

The Njoy Npro I bought in 2009 looked exactly like a cigarette and taught me that vaping had potential, but not just yet.
The Ego taught me that e-cigs could be an adequate substitute for the real things
The Reo Grand, the Ali'i and now the Provari taught me that e-cigs can be better than cigarettes.

Seriously... if I suddenly lost my Provari I'd make it a couple of days on my other e-cigs. If I lost all my e-cigs, I would probably buy a pack of Pall Malls... and go half-crazy until I could replace my Provari. I'd probably still like a Pall Mall if I had to smoke one... but it would now seem a lame substitute for what I've become used to. (And I'm not even married to the Provari... I'm eagerly awaiting a Darwin.) It's great to have a "cig" that can be anything from an ultralight to a "slap my .... and call me Sally"... in whatever flavor strikes me at the moment.

Oh, and I live in a small city where I frequently walk past police officers... I'm not shy about taking a puff and saying "hello, officer." None of them has ever said anything back except, "Hi."

Take your time. Seems like a new mod comes out every other day or so.

If you're like me you'll start eyeing different things, wondering how you can make a mod out of it. Heck, just the other day I was rifling around a box of my old electronics and came across an old cell phone that I pulled the battery out of, realized it was 3.7 volts, and hooked it up to a dead 510 unit that I have. Worked like a champ. lol... I couldn't believe it.

Just remember to enjoy yourself. This thing we are all doing, regardless of what we prefer, is helping us. You'll get the hang of it in no time. :)

2 V4L XL last me about 4 hours, and the cartamizers from nhaler hold about 2ml, which last about 7 or 8 hours for me. Nothing wrong with having a smaller e cig and enjoying it. I have a Go-Go and love it, battery last two days. But my XL Kr808 and a bigger cartamizer is almost exactly the same vape, just shorter battery life. And so is having a Riva/Ego/Vgo/whatever. They are good e-cigs, and convenient. I have two box mods as well, and sometimes its nice to sit at the computer with a small Kr808 and have something a little smaller and lighter. And the standard kr808 is why I started. I got into the different stuff, because to me, vaping became a hobby, and for a lot of people the same thing happens. IMHO its a much easier transition with a smaller e-cig. If I had started with the Go-Go, I would have hated the weight, and the push button. So don't knock the guy cause he isnt into mods yet. Let him take HIS personal journey through the vaping world, and find out what works for him. You might like a bigger e-cig man, but don't feel pressured to get one.

One thing though DO stay away from gas station and mall kiosk kits. Horribly priced, and they dont work well. Start with a small investment, like a Kr808 starter kit, or a 510 starter kit.

I recommend cartomizers, a lot easier to start with then atomizer in my opinion. I started with a 510 and atomizer, and I quit vaping for a year because of how frustrating it was. Cartomizers are a lot less fuss.

Best of luck my friend.

As I am the OP, I haven't purchased anything yet and I am researching and asking questions. I thought that was the purpose of the forum. I asked because I wanted to know not because I was BSing.

That absolutely is the purpose of this forum. Let your heart not be troubled. I, for one, am very happy that you're here, mate. I'm new to this as well and what you're seeing are just different strokes for different folks. There are lots of folks here that love their big silver Variable Volt bullet with a MAP tank that looks like a B-movie Sci-Fi prop but vapes extreeeemely well-- and you also have long time vets that vape off a very cig looking kr808d. I humbly think they're both right.

Perhaps your tastes will change to the larger models that provide the feature sets mentioned above, perhaps they won't. My girlfriend started vaping the same day I did. She's completely pleased with her Bloog Maxx Fusion starter kit. It looks like a sleek black cig with a blue light. We've talked about flavors and vapor production, battery life. She says may be someday but right now she's good and it is the kit that stopped her from smoking from day one. And it works. It works for her and she doesn’t feel odd vaping it in public. She’s also said other smokers at her job have shown huge interest. If that sounds good to you, take a look at the starter kits from bloogplanet.com and see what you think.

Me? I'm the other type. I took a few vapes off a V2cig starter kit and knew it wasn't enough for me. It wasn’t bad but as a pipe smoker, I have certain characteristics I'm looking for in order for me toss the analog. I'm looking for the next best thing and I'll likely continue to upgrade following the evolution of the PVs and I’ll enjoy every step of that journey. Guys that vape the mods are seeing it from their perspective and are looking to save you the money that they spent in getting mod after mod, atty after atty. That’s all.

Hope that helps.

This is a pic of e-Health e-cig battery. Is there any removable like that? May be this is an answer for "looks a like" e-cig. It doesn't even matter how long the battery is going to last because removable.
BTW e-Health/Njoy has a reversed male/female 510 connector.

I started out with a 510 with carto cig look alike. I wasn't getting satisfaction from it and went to a riva kit. That did the job for me and I quit cigs for good. But I noticed that every time I saw that 510 lying there on the end table, the craving for a cigarette would return and I would have to vape like mad for a bit to stop it. Then I got a gogo kit and realized that vaping was much better than smoking ever was and it was easy to replace a pack of cigarettes with a gogo. After many months, I still run across that little cigarette sized PV and still have a Pavlovian response to it. But I laugh at it now.

I guess the OP needs to go through the process.

IMO the Riva/Ego/etc types are the best to start with, out of all of the people I have switched over (over 50) the highest success rate has been with those (mostly Riva, 30 bucks for a starter kit is great). Blu (a cig sized/style) has a 100% failure rate in my experience (which isn't to say that's conclusive evidence, some people are happy with theirs).

My main vape is a ProVari (larger mod) with MAP tank (another mod for the atty/cart part). This gives me days between recharges and refills, a consistent hit (regulated power, with most standard kits the lower the battery the weaker the hit), ability to change voltage when I want (just a few button presses), etc. I do still use my riva/ego (also with MAP tanks on them) for my alternate flavors (my all day goes on the ProVari, the ones I like but not enough to use all day go on the riva/ego batteries).

I still haven't gotten into things like box mods, at first I thought they were stupid, but started thinking about getting a Darwin... I will probably end up getting an eclipse when it comes out.

If you want something smaller, Riva/Ego is the way to go IMO. Cigar sized, well built, very good performance for the cost (especially with the Riva). If you really want something cigarette sized, a standard 510 or 808 is what I would suggest. I'd push the standard 510 more, as you can upgrade it to an Ego with just a change in battery.

I'm wondering how ppl came up with the numbers of vaping hours? Did they chain vape?
I've never had such a spectacular results neither from kr808 or eGo batteries with the chain vaping. Brand new and fully charged Kr808 lasted 71 minuts and eGo about 2+ hours but with the noticeable decreasing in performance.

Ya know, I'm really glad that I spent too much money on my first kit. Part of my success was that I had made a serious investment in it and wasn't going to let that money be wasted. I kept my eye on the prize... which was that break even point.

Little did I know that vaping would turn me into a raging internet shopaholic.

And wv2win, you are 100% correct in everything you write. Some people just have to make that transition at their own pace. It's good that there are so many veterans here to share their individual journeys, though, because some people really do learn from others mistakes. At least you're planting seeds.

Seriously? I chain vape (my PV is glued to my hand, and I can use it at work) and I get a day and a half out of a standard 650mah ego battery. That's a day starting at about 7am and ending (at the bar, which means even more vaping) at around 10-11pm...

I tried a few from different vendors with the chain vaping (just sitting and doing non-stop vaping wile watching the clock ) with the same average results. May be it's just my luck:blink:

What the heck, I'll chime in. The reason a lot of people don't want and don't like cigarette looking kits is that's just about all you get, cigarette looking. Well guess what, I'd rather it be more like cigarette smoking. When I smoked a cigarette, I never worried about how it looked. Face it, a lot of people hated me for doing it. When I smoked a cigarette, I got the same thing every time. You don't get that when it's totally unsatisfying and it's time to change the battery 8 or 10 times a day. You also don't get it when your cartomizer's getting dry either.

The non-cigarette looking kits are there to get you to a more like smoking experience. If you smoked for how it looked then, by all means, you definitely need a cigarette looking kit. It would be cheaper to suck on a pencil though. The mods are there to make it a more smoking like experience.

So, I'll turn your question right back to you. Do you really smoke just to hold something that's cigarette sized? Is that really why it's hard for you to quit? If the answer's no then, I think you have your answer.

I want something that looks and feels like smoking an analog cigarette, so why do so many want mods and stuff. I certainly don't want it to look like I'm smoking a .... and get pulled over by the cops.
They like to show off with their big guns!!! lmao..may i suggest a 510? I love mine!

Fun topic this. I'll jump in as well. Back in the days (old man speaking) you only had the pen styles and the very first cig lookalikes, the M401, M402, and if I remember correctly the 901. They didn't do it for me. Fast forward a year or so and you had the 510 and the KR808. Now we were talking. At this moment I am surrounded by Riva's, eGo-T's, T-Rexes and Leo's. I'm using atomizers and cartridges, cartomizers (mega and otherwise) and tanks. I even built my own box mod. Been there, done that. But I still like an occasional puff from my 510's and 808's, and not just for old times sake. I'm still amazed at how well these funny little things perform.

It comes down to personal preference I think. I mean, think about vegetarians. Some of us try to find meat substitutes that taste as much like the real thing as possible, while other people either try to get something with the same taste or texture or appearance as meat without it really tasting like meat (i.e. I eat fake chicken patties that are delicious and chicken-like but extremely soft and un-chewy, and I LOVE them). And you have still other veggies who doesn't substitute with fake meat EVER. It's the same way with vaping, and I don't think there's really a wrong way to vape if you're happy with it and not doing something ridiculously dangerous (like drinking 100mg juice or something)!

Any ecig/PV that improves the quality of your life (and for many people, gets you off analogs) is a good ecig or PV for you. So for you, the ones that look exactly like analogs are the right choice. For other people, a boxmod or something else might be better. :) Some people still want to hold onto smoking, other people are happy to be "quitters". I imagine how someone feels about smoking and how people in their life feel about it has a LOT to do with it. For instance, if you love the experience of smoking and most of your friends sit outside smoking a lot, holding something that looks exactly like an analog is a legitimate psychological need. On the other hand, if smoking isn't a big part of your life besides a habit/addiction, it might be more important for you to get a strong, hot throat hit and lots of vapor coming out of your mouth. It probably depends on what parts of smoking appeals to you most. You mentioned you smoked menthols, so it sounds like other things are more important to you than throat hit. :) Sounds like you've found what you need! Luckily there are so very many options, everyone can find something that works just about perfectly for them.

I'm new to nicotine altogether, so I'm happy with anything. :) I prefer kind of a happy medium with a longer penstyle, preferably with some decorations, but I've contentedly vaped an Njoy Npro and a weird semi-mod and loved both of them.
