Why pay well over $100 for a mech when a clone of it is a fraction of the price?

By the way, weren't w cigs developed in china? So US companies copied a china design, and people on here are supporting them?

An American patented the first e-cig. (Filed in 1963)

I didnt know that.
Thank you.

I support original designs and original art, but installing a button on a metal battery tube isnt worth 200 bucks no matter how you slice it.

Show me a new original idea with some original artisitc asthetics, and maybe to a collector, it would justify a premium.

But to slap a name on a batterytube with a button and call it " an original design" is laughable.

There are only so many things you can do with a mechanical mod to be "innovative". Whatever innovation exists, is mostly in the switches. Poldiacs and Rollers, in particular, have pretty unique switches. Other than that, it boils down to quality of materials and machining. Are high end mechanicals worth 8 to 10 times the price of a clone? That's up to the buyer, I guess.

I have nothing against people who buy clones, but I really prefer the high end mods. But for me, it has nothing to do with being a status symbol. Nobody that I interact with vape or know anything about it. So, I'm definitely not impressing my friends or coworkers. I view these as works of art and so I pay the artists for their creations. Do they perform 10x better than the clones, probably not.

This is probably the most down to earth, sensible opinion on the subject ever.

I had a chance to try a K-100 and an Empire before purchasing. Ended up waiting my time and grabbing an Empire. Build quality was my main factor.... Pretty sure the Empire is built from Ancient Alien technology. If I ever have a problem with it I can reach out to Empire mods and feel confident they will help me out, so that was a plus too.

As far as costs, I can totally understand people having limited means/money/etc. What I do NOT understand nor care for are the people who give me an attitude about spending so much on a mod, while at the same time sit there with 500 plus in knockoffs.

Amen to this ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
