I would've asked the moderator about this and question it that way, but I read that its breaking the rules to question the actions of a moderator, so I hope I'm not breaking any other rules for asking this here, as it says its a forum for problems, questions etc.

I've only been using e-cigs for 5 weeks, and even though I've read a whole lots of info in that time and asked many questions here, I dont yet know everything there is to know about this. So, when I have gone and looked at the different types of cartos, attys, clearos, tanks, etc., they are usually split up into different categories. So, in one category will be cartos which 'sometimes' includes clearos. But when I bought my one 6ml tank, it wasnt called a carto or a clearo, it was called a tank.

So when asking a question about why I had a coil in my clearo(Vivi Nova) apparently burn out prematurely, I didnt see a clearo forum area, so I put it in the general e-cig discussion forum area, where I have repeatedly seen other similar topics being started.

Now, if it doesnt belong there, and I put it in the wrong place, and someone needs to let me know and tell me that tanks and clearos are to be put in the same place, then thats fine.... But I got a notice telling me I'm getting points against me, and when I read what that means, it says I may have privileges taken away, etc.

I'm sorry, HighLanderNorth. From your post here and your questions I see no need for hostility, which, as an outsider to the issue, just reading the targeted response of "You sure know how to push things don't you?" seems inappropriate. I do not see how HighLander's message in this thread concerning site feedback should be a private message when this is an issue that concerns all users and guests. I've seen how other mods will redirect a thread to another forum, so I don't know why that wasn't done in your case, though from what you're explaining, your question seemed to have been put in the correct place, especially for a new vaper. I am not familiar with this points system. I also gotta say I don't understand why the PG ratings here when most everywhere you've gotta be 18+ to purchase the products (and even view the products on vendor websites, ie age verification redirection) discussed on this forum. I know that last part has been discussed before, but the explanations I've read still don't make complete sense. Not that I want a bunch of porn and swears floating around here, but users and mods are quick to delete anything they deem unfit for the discussion, so such undesirables would anyway be cleared almost instantly.

I find it difficult to search the forum and find the correct area to post though, too: there really is just soooo much to just this site. And of course all the terminology of equipment and whatnot is confusing and difficult to master, and some who think they're using the right word (like say clearos vs carto and whatnot), etc. I don't know why the Wiki of vaping is not working or what the status is, but I'd find that helpful and would enjoy contributing to it, if only just for my own benefit of retaining all this new information.

So, HighLander, know you're not alone in your confusions, and I'm sorry you were met with demerits for your post and confusion. Sometimes I just gotta take a step back and realize that life is not this website (that is, when I get posts deleted here, or say reviews of products I've written that are not approved and published, even despite my best attempts at relevant eloquent articulation, which has to be followed by a smiley or an LOL to let them know I'm not threatening). LOLZ :p

Flarg, I notice your post at 11:24. Note the edit of the original post at 10:20, after I published mine at 9:52 and before you read it.

Plus I added the note at the end to lighten it up. I was not being hostile, merely pointing out the obvious. By posting this with the start of: I know I am not allowed to question moderators, yet here goes the questioning of the moderators, is in fact "pushing it". If you tend to be a PIA, you will get your hand slapped and this is apparently what has happened. No ban, but just a reminder. Read about the point system, and you will find that they do drop off over time. The moderators here do a great job, and are probably way too busy to move posts all the time, so if they want to remind people how to do it correctly it is within their purview to do so.

I think a PM would have been more appropriate to question the moderators and plead the case rather than bring it to a public forum, that is all. And now I am being a PIA, LOL.

Concerning the difficulties users, especially new ones, might have with their postings in correct forums, there could be improvements to the user interface of this website. I realize there's several styles a user can apply to the site, but for the new user who doesn't understand this, having whatever is the most basic and easiest interface automatically applied would be especially helpful. And if the -ECF 1- is considered the most basic and easiest style, well it isn't for me. I'm not a fan of how this forum is organized and visually presented, but I've come to find out that this is conventional for many Internet forums so I've just gotta deal with it.

I have only started 2 posts I think. I am very careful before I do, because I am just as new as the 2 of you are and don't want to make mistakes. I read the rules, I surf the forum and I use the search feature frequently to see if what I am looking for can be found elsewhere before I do. And I usually find the answer, so no need to start a new one. I have even done some stupid things, like not realize I am in a vendor's area and post something stupid. Now I know to check that! I have posted in a thread I searched up, only to find out it is years old. Embarrassing. Sometimes I read my posts later and think, wow - that sure doesn't read the way I meant it to?

This is the first forum I have ever been on as well, so have no basis for comparison. I just deal with what I am given. I try to figure out the navigation, but it is HUGE here! Just when I think I have it mastered, I find some new corner of it I haven't seen yet! So I can understand the frustration, oh yes I can!

Your understanding of the rules about complaining about moderators is flawed. If you have an issue with an infraction or rule reminder sending a PM to the moderator asking for clarification is not against the rules. The rule applies to complaints in the open forum. Since your post seems to be an honest inquiry rather than a complaint I'll continue.

Having reviewed your history, I see that you have some issues with following the rules. The moderator that gave you an infraction for starting a thread in the wrong forum surely took this into account when he decided to give you an infraction instead of a warning. That is a judgment call and in the end is minor since it is only a one point infraction.

Many times they will simply move a thread without issuing a warning other times they may send a PM as well. I don't think the moderator acted in a malicious manner or was out of line considering your past history on ECF. The infraction is minor and in the end has no real effect on your account standing since it will expire in about 10 days from now.

Of the thousands of active users on ECF the vast majority never have a rule reminder or an infraction, but getting one is not the end of the world -- we have staff members that have had infractions more serious than the one you received.

And a word about the staff and why I usually trust their judgement:

The staff tend to look at posts ( like this one ) where someone states they know the rules or start with "this may get me banned" at full face value. Call them jaded if you wish but they have to deal with a large volume of posts and reports daily. Sometimes they exercise way more restraint than I would, other times they just follow the intent of the rules. They don't always get it right, but most of the time they do a very good job.
