Which PV do you recommend to a newbie?

I also recommend a 510 to start with (occasionally a KR8 if the newbie has specifically mentioned something that one would be a better 'fit' for them) because its cheap and the learning curve isn't too steep.
I also recommend dripping because I personally prefer it even while out (though not driving lol).
If someone begins a love for vaping its usually on one of the basic kits, and they may want MORE later (like a mod or 3) but I hate to think people being out hundreds of $ at the start before they even know if they like it. mods are great but I think they are a second stage user item not a newbie thing when the newbie is unsure of the product.

Several distributors are constantly working on improving the cartos and I think that issue will get itself sorted out sooner, rather than later.

The latest "improvements" made this particular problem even worse, and I find no indication that anybody is working on it. Well, maybe they are, but until this is sorted out, I personally would find it grossly negligent to recommend them. Nobody knows that exactly it is you inhale when they burn, which many cartos seem to do, not just a few. But it's not very likely that whatever it is, it's particularly healthy, is it?

I'd also not underestimate the way mods look to newbies - scary. "Running around with a screwdriver in your face" is not something that looks particularly appealing to many, even if most can at least understand why others do it about a week into vaping. Quite a few think the eGo or a penstyle "is kind of big, isn't it".
And while I do my best to talk them out of the idea "It has to look like a cigarette", a 510 (or anything of that size) is about the biggest many newbies can accept.

When you mention "improvements" are you referring to the new low resistance cartomizers?
I've been waiting to hear more about them, but also worrying about the increased "burning" potential.

Can you expand on this, or maybe point me to a thread that discusses this issue?

Maybe it's something simple, like some air space between the batting and the atomizer wrap on some cartos, so that the wrap isn't kept moist enough? If that's the case, fluffing the batting around might solve it. Who knows. I have noticed my premium cartos burning out faster than the regulars, though - I have to be very diligent about topping them off.

That's unsurprising. They run 15-20deg C hotter in my limited testing.

What is causing your brow-furrowing? Even though I started with a penstyle and still use one, I chose the KR808. It's the easiest, most fuss free model for someone just starting out.

I'm glad I found this poll. I'm new to PV, decided to try it when a friend bought a Green Smoke kit at a mall. I've been reading this forum for a few days and it seemed like the more I read the more confused I got. I couldn't decide so I ended up ordering a Joye 510 from mypvshop and a Vapor King from V4L. Hopefully I bought enough cartomizers, carts and supplies to last until I get this juice thingie figured out.

I recommend the Vapor King. It is simple. The premium cartomizers put out more vapor than anything. Its in my opinion the best.

I vote Janty eGo with low resistance atomizer and drip tips or T-tips, right from the get-go. Long battery life, great warranty, great vape...period. I used to recommend kr8 with cartomizers. 4 out of the 4 people that I recommended kr8's & cartos to, could not quit smoking. They have since tried the above set-up, which is what I use now and they love it, said it completely replicates their smoking. One told me last night that a few hits off the eGo spoiled her so now her kr8 is worthless to her altogether. She uses it at my house only as she doesn't want to smoke in my home. She described the hits from the eGo as smoother, more vapor, and best hit (TH). Said she HAS to get an eGo now. I'd have to agree as that is exactly what I'd been searching for and what I found when I switched from kr8's & cartos 3 months ago to the eGo, and more recently to LR atties, and dripping. The LR atties and drip tips put it over the edge with complete satisfaction for me. This does it hands down! I also love my ProVapes. I have 2, a pink one and a blue one. I definitely recommend the eGo for starters to newbies, though. They can have the fun of choosing mods later on if they wish.

I voted 510, but if I'd had a second choice, I'd've said 801/penstyle. I like them both for different reasons, and they both make very good starter e-cigs. I haven't tried a 901 yet, but I'd imagine it'd also make a very good first PV.

I voted 510 but I think that it really depends on what a persons likes were about smoking analogs.

Each atty is different and depending on what a person likes about smoking would depend on what e-cig I would suggest. I would definitely say they should start out with something cheaper like a DSE 510, then when they have found what type of smoke they like they can experiment with mods and voltages.

I recommend 510's to everyone. Easy to start with. I jot it down along with a local supplier who I know will be able to instruct them about use with little complication and I also give them the website link for ECF.
