So I've been using all different size and length of coils, and no matter whether it's a slink stretched out coil, or a tight little microcoil my wick always seems tog et black in the middle which then causes the rest of the juice to blacken and I end up changing my wicks 1-2 times a day (which only takes about 1 minute) but it's still annoying. I've tried every setting from 8 to 12 watts but at 8 watts it takes forever to get a satisfactory hit so it ends up scorching in the middle anyways. I take pretty long lung draws which I'm assuming is the culprit..so I'll just have to put up with rewicking all the time to meet me high demands and standards.

Any ideas as to what's causing this or does it happen to everybody?

Sitting down, facing forward.
Just a guess, but the blackening you are seeing is the result of "gunk" starting to accumulate in the wick If you're using a sweet, fruit or confection flavor, it will happen rather quickly due to the additional carbon present in those kinds of flavors. If it doesn't effect flavor or vapor output, just ignore it until it does, no harm, no foul.

This is common enough.

I don't actually change heads when this happens. I only change heads when vapor production suffers.

If taste is suffering, it's usually about time that the tank is running low anyway and the un-vaporized (is that a word?) stuff gets concentrated in the remaining juice. At the point ... I ditch the liquid (usually less than half a ml) and just refill. Works fine for me but YMMV.

Like everyone else it happens to me too. I've just started using a bottom fed IGO-L with silica instead of SS. Will be interesting to see how that goes after I get used to it.

I really don't care about the color of my juice. It doesn't seem to change the flavor and IMO what's the difference if the gunk is on the coil/wick or in the juice on the coil/wick. Some of it can be vaporized in either scenario. But that's just me.

like everyone else i ignore it and do a rinse and dryburn every other day. its just the nature of the beast, it also doesnt help that VG is a pure form of sugar, and will gunk up the coils even faster the higher the %. in my kayfun the only way to tell its happening is about the 3rd day vapor drops way off. open it up, quick dryburn and back in business.

I have a top coil unit and get the black spot too. I use long wicks and start by pulling it short on one side and extra long on the other, and just pull the black spot out every couple days. When I run out of clean wick I clean it and start again.

The dark gunk at the bottom of the tank, which takes a few tank fulls to get, I usually dump, but one and a while I'll put it in a bottom feeder and vape it. Its potent stuff.

iv been having the same problem even when using ekowool. I do t care about the color but the scorned/burnt flavor is what I cannot stand. I have tried many different coil setups and different silica wick and it still happens. I'm about to get my first rba, an aga-t2, and I was hoping with the xc wick it wouldn't have the bad flavor but until the. I'm still tryin to figure out a way to be able to take long lung draws and not get that horrible taste. iv tries it from 1.8 to 3.5 ohms which I am currently using and no luck :(
