Wick - Cotton or silica? Your preference and why

I've only used cotton so far on all 2 of my builds lol.

But I'm interested in silica and wanted to hear your experiences, preferences and reasons.

Like all vaping differences it comes to preference. For me I like cotton because I find it easier to build a coil and thread cotton through vs building on silica. But silica lasts longer and can be dry burned. Dry burning cotton is simply called burning lol.

I've used both but I only use cotton in my Kayfuns now , mainly for ease of rewicking but also less break in time on cotton , and I give the edge in flavor to cotton as well by a slim margin , cotton's also easier to work with in different builds as well , you can sculpt it .

I have even tried using hemp rope in my builds. I have experimented with many materials, but cotton seems to work in all my builds.

silica has been tested and it has no added flavor IMO. Readywick is even better and pretty much all I use now. Every version of cotton I had tried tasted like a sock(actually a diry sock). Wi.... didn't since it is cheaper but it does to me.

I like silica, DOWN to a point. Much lower than 1 ohm and it becomes necessary to get creative to get enough wicking, and that can make other materials a better choice.
But, most of the time I wrap around 4 strands of 0.8mm silica.

I just started using cotton on a Kayfun Lite, igo-L and a rm2. I must say I regret purchasing 33 feet of silica. I prefer the easy of cotton as well as the wonderful flavor I am getting. Your going to get many opinion here but that is just one of the things that make ecf so special. Good luck to you and happy vaping.
