So, I rebuilt the coil and wick for my Protank 2 for the first time tonight. It was really easy and actually kind of fun. Anyways, I used cotton as some on here have recommended, but I did not care for it. I get this weird taste from the cotton and it was a little hard on the throat. What other wicking material is good for a Protank 2? Maybe something a little more similar to the wick that comes in the original atomizer?

Sitting down, facing forward.
I've been using both silica and fiberglass wicks for Protanks and everything else. I keep hearing people say that fiberglass is "dangerous" because of glass particles. Silica is also glass and sheds particles. If you watch carefully when you cut or trim silica you can see the burst of dust fly with the cut. Glass is, after all, silica based. I just give them a shot of canned air after everything is done and hope for the best.

Thanks, I will look into the silica. Seems like a lot of people use that.

Check out you tube micro coils with cotton for protanks. It does help if you boil it first and if you can find organic cotton balls it helps too. I tried straight up grocery store cotton balls first and had the same reaction. Make sure you soak in your juice to prime it before you put the chimney on or fire it and don't use to much cotton. I had my best results with a vertical micro coil then lightly pack cotton wisps around the coil in the cup. There's a thread around here some wear about them.

Somebody on here suggested boiling the cotton because the manufacturers of cotton balls use hydrogen peroxide to bleach them white. They said they boil them for 5 mins, let them dry, boil them another 5 mins then they are good to go.

    No you can't
Different cottons will change the flavor also if the draw is hard remove the flavor wick; you could try to use less cotton next time.
I use these for month with very good results. I don't have to boil them
