Will have to try that as well BJ, I have some new clearos coming that are begging for it (T2, E1, V2 and Mini Vivi). I'll be damned if I'm going to leave them in silica mode for long lol.

how big/long is your baton roll?

EDIT: Do you make cut outs in your silicon seals to accommodate the wicks better or just use them stock?

Snipped little triangles with the wire cutter in the silicone cup to accommodate the wicks.

I would really like to see how that looks, could you photo and post it please?

Thank you for any time and effort spent on my request.
Next time I take one apart I will take a pic. Right now all four are filled with juice and from the outside it all seems like one wick down each side.

So after sort of reading this thread Im so confused to be honest. So much stuff was thrown around about this and that. I just gave up. So I come to the end of the forum and post.

So out of 263 pages of recommendations which type of wicking material will be the best?
How do you insert the wick in the holes of the vv tank?
Where to buy the ideal material?

Here's a thread with some "summaries".
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modding-forum/322633-wick-materials-summary.html

ETA:
I would say that all the listed materials are safer than the silica. Not sure what the 'safest' material would be.

Which "vv tank" are you asking about?
The Vivi Nova? There are a few threads about rebuilding (replacing wick/coil) these and you can find that info on those threads.
The SmokTech Vivi Rebuildable? Just use what material you choose (cotton ball, cotton candle wick, cotton cheese cloth, cotton yarn, bamboo yarn) as you would a 'normal' silica wick. hmmm, I guess the same could be said of using these materials with the Vivi Nova  :D

IMO: I have now tried cotton string, cotton gauze, cotton candle wick, cotton yarn, and rolled cotton batten. They all worked in different degrees in my vivi novas. All work 100% better if I place a 3/4 inch of rolled cotton batten about 2mm dia on top of the coil/wick assembly. They all seem to work as good as the next with this over coil wick. Keeps the coil wet and never a dry hit. All needed to break in to get good flavor. I now have 4 setups all with the different wicks mentioned, all same coils, all the same juice and I can't tell any difference when I vape them. Did a blind test with a friend and he swears I gave him the same one each time.

Forgot cotton cheesecloth, that and the batten cotton were the best alone but still improved with the additional over coil wick.

BJ, I agree 100%. I've been using that method a while now. The cotton over coil wick method aka "cocwm" like in "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs" the (Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator) or the FLDSMDFR machine.... :)

The CocWm method (pronounced Coc(k)W(i)m ;)), I like it :D

ETA:
Hmmm, then it would be the cotton over coil wick method method  So just CocWm - "I rebuild my atties with the CocWm" :D

Holy acronyms Catman...so are you going to be setting up your MS300GV3N510CSCFT (mini scuba 300 gen v3 native 510 connector single coil flat top, pant, pant) using the CocWm method?

Good sub-thread btw...I agree, this thread is getting nuts long...cotton mixed in with Fly fishing, Russian Literature and fav cars...it's getting impossible to find anything, I have a separate bookmark folder for this juggernaut

But of course I'm going to use the CocWm on the MS300GVN510CSCFT and on the STVRT and the CDBD and TBC-2 also :D
And I'll check out the QS/BGL-T on the ones that will take VSSMWs :p

MS300GV3N510CSCFT = mini scuba 300 gen v3 native 510 connector single coil flat top
CocWm = cotton on coil wick method
STVRT = SmokTech Vivi Rebuildable Tank
CDBD = Chinese DID Bully D
TBC-2 = ??? Chinese Phoenix dripper
QS/BGL-T = QuigsStick/bluegrasslover-tip
VSSMW = Vertical Stainless Steel Mesh Wick

I've read the last post finally.

Here is my wicking tool - twisted copper wire with bamboo yarn. Make one about 1m long, and thread it through the coil ,then cut. Use until it ends, then make another. One for about a month.

The line-like device . When wick gunks just pull gunked part out and cut. Until coil covers by gunk too much. Then pull wick out and dry burn the coil with rewicking.

Nah Q, I think Evil means that he threads that wick through the coil using the twisted wire as a needle. Then pulls the yarn through until the end is reached and snips off what he needs. Then saves the rest of the yarn/wire needle setup for the next re-wicking.

Hmm, I wonder if you could roll some of the batten around a cotton thread and use that as a 'core' to pull through coils easily for re-wicking?

Oh  HI EVIL!! :D

(sorry for chatting up your thread so much  ;))

Hmmm...a meter of Bamboo Yarn is NOT hard to imagine as a wick. In my Echo Crystal Vision carto, I used approaching that amount for a single wick. I used 12 strands at ~2 1/2" each (perhaps they were 2") = ~30" of Bamboo Yarn. ...great wick...the best yet for me with Fabric!

Perhaps that not quite Evil's context...
