I believe it was a .hta file.
Years ago I taught myself HTML, some javascript, some PERL, etc. Haven't done much recently. But at one point I had written a javascript calculator (acid-base dilutions) and had discovered that Microsoft had set up something for IE, where if you saved the html file with another extension, you ended up with a 'standalone javascript app'. I know we got some computer geeks around here, anyone remember this? It would be nice to have the above javascript for Ohm's Law set as a desktop 'app'.
