So, life's been too busy for me to closely follow my subscribed threads. What did we come up with as far as the safeness of the "bamboo" yarn? I did see that someone brought up the fact that it's viscose. The fact that it's viscose pretty much means it's rayon, and no longer bears any real resemblance to bamboo. It's cellulose fiber. They jacked the cellulose from bamboo in this case, but it could have come from a tree, or any plant. The good part would be that rayon is more absorbent than cotton, the potential bad is that it's obviously not a true natural fiber any more. But stainless steel isn't natural, and it's very good. As long as the rayon doesn't leach anything when it's hot, we should be OK, right? I think they use rayon for growing tissue cultures, and it's biodegradable, so the lung-irritant mesothelioma shouldn't be an issue. Have we come up with any negative aspects, health-wise?

Anybody know where to get one of these for?

...not sure what they are indicating, but they offer a sample order of 5 sets.

"Terms of payment and shipment:
MOQ: 5 sets and sample order is acceptable
OEM: available at 500sets
Payment: TT/Western union
Shipping time: sample orders within 3 days, bulk orders within 5-7days"

Elsewhere it seems a set is a box which contains one unit.

For me, I have to stop every so often and put these things back into perspective...I just recently had my 1 yr/no cigs anniversary so from a "harm reduction" point of view...seems to me that Aunt Lydia's would be an order of magnitude safer than what I was inhaling a year ago...don't get me wrong, I'm not diminishing the possible harm I could be exposing myself to but....

I'm with you on this. It's a "lesser of evils" thing for certain. But there's long term heart/cancer stuff, and there's "oh, this causes cumulative irreversible brain damage, you'll be a vegetable in a year". Maybe next year instead of Quigsworth and Bourbonman we'll be Carrotsworth and Broccoliman....Kale_Breeze and Celery Vap, MickeyRutabaga, TomCabbage, and the rest.

Meh, whatevah. Off to boil some yarn.

A few of the ingredients that goes into the making of a regular cigarettes:

• Acetone - ingredient in nail polish remover
• Methanol - used as rocket fuel
• Naphthylamine - a carcinogen
• Pyrene - a carcinogen
• Naphthalene - moth repellent
• Cadmium - used in batteries, a carcinogen
• Carbon monoxide - poisonous gas
• Vinyl Chloride - used in plastic materials
• Cyanhydric acid - poisonous gas
• Ammonia - industrial cleaner and detergent
• Arsenic - lethal poison
• Dibenzacridine - a carcinogen
• Polonium 210 - a radioactive element
• DDT - insecticide
• Formaldehyde - embalming fluid

The liquid and vapor contain four five main ingredients:

• Nicotine
• Propylene glycol
• Vegetable glycerine
• Flavoring
• Viscose

I'll keep using the bamboo. I'll pay attention to information about it - but for now it's a risk/benefit tradeoff I'm willing to make compared to the stinkies I've been w/o for almost a year now, since I started vapin'.

Been following this mega thread off and on since the inception. Lazy bones here finally has gotten around to giving this a go.

Made a wick last night with thinned out kitchen twine. Amazingly good vape using this in a Griffin. Chain vaping some Heather's Heavenly Vapes Peach Tobacco. In vaping heaven right about now.

Lesson learned is as has been stated in this thread numerous times was to keep the wick loose. To get the wick through the coil, and snake it down into the tank, I wet the wick with juice and twisted it tight. Once I had it in place, I used a sewing needle to spread out the wick so it just made contact with every part of the coil. Used magnifying head gear to get it just right.

this has probably been done by many if not most of you, but anyway...

you make your wick by wrapping loops of yarn around your fingers as suggested by someone a little while back (say 4 full loops of bamboo for an 8 strand wick)

cut the loose end and. take a piece of wire (I have bits of kanthal all over my desk and carpet lol) and hook the end of the wick, twist the free ends of the kanthal into a thin double wire. Pull through the coil twisted ends of kanthal first.

Voila, assembly complete. You can tell by the friction if you done good. That's what she s... never mind.

No silly saliva or snaking business :)
