Hi everyone,
I have been using a rebuildable rda / mechanical mod for a few months now. I finally got my coli issues all squared away, but for the life of me, can't seem to get the wicking right!? Every time someone takes a look at my mod, I get different advice, not enough cotton / too much cotton, not enough juice / too much juice. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, and everyone keeps telling me that it's really bad to have the cotton burn and look the way it does. I'm adding photos to see if anyone can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. I put in new cotton last night, and this is what it looked like by the time I got to work this morning. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thanks!!
Donna

Be patient. I've been building for a couple months and was right about where you are now (you can probably find MY venting post re: wicking here somewhere) when a couple kind words and some additional attempts got me over the edge. I'm confident in my wicking now. It really is the toughest part of building but it'll come...keep plugging away.

To much fluffy wick and blocking air flow under the coils. Fuel to air ratio like a carburetor. Also, when you put the cap on, line up the vent holes with the coils (line up one and the other side is the same). Allows better air flow past the coils using less power to make more vape. I run 5 RDA's and 5 RTA's this way. Single and double coil with no problem.

You have received all the suggestions I would give so I would just like to

you to ecf Thenewmrsk. Pretty easy to see why ecf is such a great place to be. I use to use cotton but have been much more pleased with rayon or Koh Gen Do. Excellent saturation. Good luck to you and I hope your issue is resolved. Have fun and happy vaping.

I've had 100% success since switching to this wicking method. It works with cotton and rayon.

Not that I at all dislike your suggestion, I do like it, as well as liking this guys vid. It appears that the build in the vid seems to be what would be considered macro coils with very thick gauge wire (could just be the way I'm seeing it though) You use that much cotton, that tightly (to where you can pick the device up with it) on a micro or nano coils you are going to get dry hits. From my XP, I have been amazed at how little cotton I use with micro/nano's. :)

Rayon... best stuff ever.. and it looks like your wick is a bit too thick and dry... what juice are you using? and how old are the wick/coil in the pic? and what is the ohms on your setup?

some juices will gunk up a coil in a hurry and develope that dark crusty buildup on the coil... depending on how much you vape, changing out wicks may need to be a daily thing... low ohm builds develope quite a bit of heat which leads to coil gunking and toasted cotton...
