Hi GG friends I'm having an issue with wicking on my v1 and single 2mm Ekowool silica no matter how many turns - have even opened the mouth piece to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 full turns and even as far as it would go ~7 full turns, but eventually it would get a dry hit after 5/6 big inhales.

I have tried multiple builds like 1.2 ohm without NR wire and also around 1.9 ohm with NR wire (none of the NR wire touching the metal), but it still occurs.

Tried 50/50 juice as well as a thin juice 90PG/10VG but it will always run dry after a few pulls like I described.

The only way I have found is to 'help' wicking by giving a few pulls ~3 or so to get it wicked and then firing the mod.

Is my V1 mouthpiece defective maybe? It's not from a recent batch... Thanks for your advices!

Recently I'm running penelope v1 with one channel empty of wick. And the second channel thin wick by cutting half of the strands of the 3 mm wick. In the old times penelope was wicking fine but I found out now that vaping has become very high power above 13 watts and the only way to keep it wicking is to do what I did. It works beautiful now. Try first silica because eko wool is a pain to wick. Then try my way.

I tried the Cotton core Ekowool when it was still considered new to the market, just to see what all the hype was about.

For me, the cotton core Ekowool is a waste of time. It's like cotton wrapped in silica. I thought maybe it would last longer than a cotton wick. But no...it actually needed to be replaced more often than a cotton wick. Probably because the cotton core is small and so the cotton wears down faster. I thought the ekowool would protect the cotton to make the wick last longer, but this turned out to not be true.

My 100% cotton wicks last longer than a cotton core ekowool because my cotton wicks are thicker, so it takes longer for the wick to wear down.

I also use the half Mr. Krinkle method. Having only one wick down one channel in Penelope V1. The metal channel where the No-Res wire touches is where I have the one wick to cover the wire. The ceramic channel has no wick. And it wick really well, all the time.

If you like I can show you one of my custom builds that wicks great leaving your mouth wet in vapor and taste.

Bring it on Bish.. I'd be interested too.. I use Bobas and when I get the wicking right its fantastic.. But sometimes I have 2 strip her and tinker with the wick quite a bit to get her going properly..

I'm so sorry I started the video process but had to go for foot surgery. I was out of commission healing. Now my wound is a ulcer and been going back and forth from doctors trying to get healed. I like to avoid any amputations if I can. Ill do the video today I'm sorry for the delay.

Hope it heals up for you quick Bish.

Back to the topic though, I got a new batch of wick a few weeks ago and was having wicking issues myself. A few dry pulls would fix it right up, but that's annoying, and I'd rather avoid the process of finding out that it's dry, and then re-wetting it.

So, when I build my V1, I hold the wick edges up a bit before I put the nut on the core. I think that I was squeezing it down too hard before, and it was cutting off the juice-flow at the corners of the core. That's fixed that problem for me, maybe it'll help you guys?

Thanks Imeo, Thanks Blue, I'm tired of being sick and going to doctors back and forth. I always look forward coming home and vaping my GG.
