Too vague a question, Bjorhyn. If you generate some numbers in SE for both proposed setups, you should be able to answer your own question. ;-)

As the current for a dual parallel coil build is split, it MAY run cooler for a given wattage... but then, you'd not necessarily be using the same, gauge, wattage, resistance - or even wicking materials for both builds.

I have heavy gauge single builds that will consume juice at about the same rate as a thinner gauge dual build, at similar net resistances.

Good point! :)

I should rephrase that to say, "do you notice any difference in wicking efficiency, I.E. speed or capillary action, between single or dual coil builds?"
My assumption is no, as each wick is independent to each coil, but it really comes down to wicking method now that I give it more thought.

The most notable differences I can notice in my single v. dual coil sets is vapor production and juice consumption. Duals usually do more of both at the same ohms and wattage.
That being said, I really don't do many single builds, so I'm probably not a quotable source here. :p

I hear ya. I'm building on a Mutation as well, with 24g. Anything higher gauge gets too hot too fast for me.
Go through some some of the other suggestions in here, as they all definitely helped me out. You might find some new life in that 24.

As a side note, do you notice any difference in wicking between single and dual coil builds?
On a mech mod, I prefer a single coil. It seems to heat up quicker and more evenly. On my Sig 100+, anything over 50 watts and its like the single coil just blazes through juice and burns cotton. I'm no expert though, and I'm still tinkering.

I will say Cellucotton takes a lot more punishment than cotton. I've been dredging my way through a pack of cotton bacon for about a month.

Alrighty, finally got my hands on some 22g to tinker with.

Built a simple dual micro at .32ohm (1/8th" I.D.) with 10 wraps. It handles 150w pretty well, although it drinks juice like it was stranded in the desert.
Tried the suggestion of tucking the tails under the coils, but I'm not sold on how it draws. Seems a little choked off.
I've lost a lot of the heat off the vapor, which I don't like, and the flavor is about the same as the twisted builds I had before.

I'm not really satisfied with how it vapes, but it gives me another jumping off point to play with. I'd like to see what I could do to get better vapor production and more heat.
