They can be done cotton but you need to preserve that material wrapped around the inside of the nautilus or replace it with SS mesh. I would not try dual coils if you do cotton. But you should use NR-R-NR wire as the leads do not get hot as they are not resistance wire. All the head i rebuild i use it. fasttech and Discount vapors carries it. I typically rebuild mine with 2.5mm ekowool and the wire i spoke of and am able to do a so so on that. It's not as neat looking as the original but it works. Those heads are not easy. The BDC is the easier I think. You can also buy the pre mades i have not tried that yet.

Oh you can pop the tops of the BDC head making it easier using a drill bit and a PT base. The Nautilus can be broken apart. first you pull the old wicks. Then the teflon insulator with the cutouts. Then you pop the bottom out with a drill bit and use a socket to hold it while you wack it with a small hammer. There are videos showing that.
