*Will fluid steep the same without the nicotine?

I was wondering if I ran out of nicotine but have more on the way, will the steeping process be affected at all if I mix my recipes now and allow them to steep and add the nicotine when it arrives? I have noticed that the higher the nicotine content, the darker the fluid gets after it has steeped. This is the only reason why I ask. Thank you!!
