Will higher wattage and lower nicotine help with quitting

I'm trying to make progress on the analog to vaping switch. I stopped at a new vape shop this morning, explained my lack of satisfaction and desire to quit analogs. The first thing out of his mouth was, "you need a different device". Oh, not again. No more devices.

Once we got that out of the way, he suggested raising the wattage, changing the coil and tightening the air flow, (I'm MTL). In his experience, many people need more vapor and less nicotine to find satisfaction. Does anyone out there agree with that logic?

BTW, I have a device for that. I have lots of devices.

Thanks!
For me, I'm doing the same. Switching over. I feel the need to "hit" my cape a lot that hand to mouth thing esspicially the minute I get in my car. I'm using a 75wt pico with a tight drip tip. Cause I do MTL also . I'm using 3mg. But change vaping so seems to work. I have asked this question in numerous chats how many "hits" from my vape giving all the info equals a analog. I have asked because I want to succeed but I suppose there is no exact science to it. I feels stronger device works best for me after purchasing many. So yea I suppose I agree as I don't think I could up the nic level because I'm feeling. The need to go to my vape a lot being new. I went from pack and a half to 7. In a week of doing this seriously . Not perfect but proud of myself for the most part

Also. I have many huge local vape shops where I live. Find someone you feel comfortable with who takes the time with you. Not just to sell you something. Watch a lot of you tube. It's all I have been doing since I got serious. I "googled" in you tube how I switched from cigs to vaping . There's so many out there . People with 3 views helped the most especially when I commented are you still at it and got replies. Yes two years now, after 22yrs. That was encouraging to me and real, I saw everyday people. Not people trying to sell me something although the reviews are helpful and help pass time and keep you grounded

I am proud of you too!! Keep going because you WILL succeed .......... Try anything and everything you can think of to keep off of the death sticks......... If you think you need more nicotine then use it....... If you think you need more vapor then use more power on your settings if you have it.........

Im gonna disagree with the shop.... MTL would be lower wattage ( 8-15W) higher ohms ( 1.0-1.8) and high nic ( 36).
In MTL vaping you are looking for a hi volume of nic during that small amount of vapor inhaled.
hi watt and low nic is aimed more towards DTL style vaping.... the volume of vapor inhaled in DTL is many more times the volume of MTL, therefore the nic can be a lower percentage

kinda like drinking a shot of Everclear ( MTL) or drinking a 6 pack of beer ( DTL) to get buzzed equally...

I'm not surprised you can't go above 12 nic because you are technically sub-ohming. When's the last time you tried a coil above 1.0 in a small, MTL tank? I would suggest trying one and increasing your nic as high as you can tolerate, and no reason not to put some nic salts in that tank, either. You have some tools on hand, so why not do some experimenting? You may be able to tolerate a different nic level in a MTL tank than you did previously... It's not outside the realm of possibility. If you like your current tank, great, use it, but maybe have a secondary MTL tank for severe cravings? It's not hard to unscrew and then rescrew a tank and adjust your wattage?

And, I do agree with everyone that making progress is a big deal. I dual vaped for about a week to start, and each time I smoked, vaping got easier. :) It sounds to me you might have to get a bit creative OR keep plugging along and not beating yourself up. When I fell off the wagon (badly sometimes, ooh early on I went to a concert, that was not good at all) I just picked myself up and continued vaping. After a while I got the message that smoking was counter to my desire to feel good, and that helped me vape through many experiences. That's when I knew I'd succeed....

I'm not a big fan of tobacco flavored e-juice, but it seems the NET get the best reviews, so you could try ordering a bottle of that, if it's the taste you are missing....

lol I used to smoke literally five cigarettes driving 20 minutes to work. Smoking and driving go together like wings and beer.

Me, first time, I did MTL and then DL in an ego aio on 6mg and didn't last long. In hindsight, that was nowhere near enough nic. Girl at the shop told me the second time to up the nic so I went for 12 mg in a .4ohm baby @60 watts. Coughing and wheezing and dry mouth but I stuck with it for a few days. Then I really craved a smoke, so I lit one, stuck it in my mouth, drew a good one... And it tasted like I just downed a bottle of insecticide. Disgusted, I threw the damn thing away and haven't looked back. Lowered the nicotine and no more coughing or dry mouth now, but if I ever get a craving again I'll just up the nicotine. I'm just done with tobacco.

I'm going to admit that I didn't read every response in this thread, so what I'm going to say might have been said already, but... I disagree.

It's very difficult to say what any individual will find most helpful when switching from smoking to vaping, but... my opinion is that the average smoker would be best off with a good MTL tank with decent factory coils running at pretty low wattage using high nic juice, at first. A good inexpensive initial setup, IMHO, would be a pico with a nautilus 2, running either the 0.7 coils or the Claptons, and juice ranging from 12-18mg, maybe even 24mg for a really hardcore smoker. That would run best anywhere from 12-20 Watts, IMHO, depending on the juice.

That's not likely a setup people will keep forever, but I think it has some advantages when switching to vaping.

Also, forget about your past attempts. I had to. I had to remind myself that *every quit is different* and that failing in the past didn't mean failing in the future. You can do this.

Yep. I've gone years without smoking at all by vaping (something very difficult for me to do without vaping,) but I've also gone back to smoking for short periods a couple of times when under a lot of stress. I wish I hadn't done that, and don't plan to again, but the past is irrevocable, I suppose- I really just wish I had never started smoking, but I was 12 when I started, and not very wise... not much to be done about that, I think ;).

Anyway, the past is the past, and you can't change it, and shouldn't worry much about it, IMHO (though I do, of course- I just think I shouldn't ;) .) What you don't want to do, I think, is let the past interfere too much with the present. Without vaping, people who quit smoking successfully, cold-turkey, try and fail an average of 3-4 times, IIRC. They quit successfully only because they are willing to ignore the past and try again. I think (having done both more than once) that switching to vaping is a lot easier than quitting cold-turkey, but the obstacles to doing so are similar.

I don't disagree with you at all. For me, vaping is about quitting smoking. So there is sort of a mental flowchart that unfolds in my brain when the subject comes up. It's like this:

    1) Do you smoke? No- don't vape Yes...
    2) Would you like to quit? No- OK Yes...
    3) Do you need help quitting? No- OK Yes...
    4) Do you need cig replacement? No- OK Yes...

Get a simple MTL set up, somewhere between 8 and 25 Watts. You can do that for less than a $50 initial investment and have a set up that will last you one or two years other than coils and juice.

    For instance:

That's $40 from Element Vape, including fast shipping to the US.

Have you seen that Innokin DRV? It plugs into your car cig lighter. Has a rotary dial to control Voltage and a cable that you screw a tank onto the end of. It seemed a little fussy and overpriced but it was an interesting idea.

It's an odd little thing. I was seeing it priced for $50+ and that wasn't really worth it to me for such a niche device. If I had hours and hours of commuting on a regular basis, maybe.
