I have an appointment with my Doctor in a couple months.
I want him to take "Smoker" off the computer.

I haven't had one single cigarette in 171 days & 12 hours, my lungs are clear, my Blood Pressure is normal, (the reason I go to the Dr. anyway)...

My wife still calls me a smoker & it's pissing me off, If I can get a Dr's note, maybe she'll shut up about it :)

Thanks

Just my own experience, but I let my doctor tell me I had stopped smoking, a conclusion he reached after extensive (normal) tests. BP normal after several years of climbing, lungs clear and blood tests came back as non smoker normal..so...it was a "whatever" moment. I just smiled at him.

Your wife is a whole other issue..not going there.:)

Great question...medically speaking are we considered non-smokers. Are there any guidelines? Should we be classified as non-smokers for insurance purposes. After 3 months...6 months...1 year...never cause it`s a nicotine addiction?

The anti smoking freaks have seen to it that you will still be classified as a smoker for insurance purposes if you use nicotine. I just went through this at work. It is no longer strictly about smoking cigarettes. It is about using nicotine in any form. They will do anything to up your premiums.

My Dr. said clean bill of health and 'non-smoker' as of 2 years ago... so my insurance went down and he tells me if anyone tries to say otherwise that I have the argument on my side that people who chew nico-gums can't be labeled as smokers anymore and therefore neither can I. Vapor or not, my lungs have recovered and I have no more health side effects that can be measured associated with smoking.

I dunno - I guess it depends on the Dr.

Gee, I guess it depends on how you look at it.

Of course, technicly, its NOT smoke by that deffinition.

However, its still a nic delivery device and the nic addiction is still
there. So you have simple exchanged one delivery method for another.

But "smoker" means smoke! combustible stuff and all that! vapor is just,
err, vapor! :D so your still a nic junky, but a "non-smoking" nic junky :)

Yes, I consider myself a non-smoker; however, I think sherid is correct in terms of health insurance.

After two weeks of vaping, my doctor already reduced my blood pressure meds.
And after I thoroughly described vaping and showed him my e-cig, he wrote "Pt. recently quit smoking" in my chart.
I didn't request it, I just gave him the info.
It does equal use of NRT (nicotine replacement therapy) as far as he was concerned.

No, you're not a smoker, but it depends on why you want to know. I recently got a rude awakening from a life insurance company who asked me if I had had cigarettes, cigars, pipes, snuff (she listed everything) or any type of nicotine delivery device in the past year. That last phrase in there basically grouped me in the same category as a smoker and more than doubled my rates. She said they can reclassify me after I've been off nicotine for a year. I absolutely couldn't believe it.
