This is gonna be a stupid noob question, but will petroleum jelly (like vaseline), actually be a negative thing on a nickel GGTS, specifically on the nickel plating finish?

I had, by accident, gotten a load of it onto my GGTS after I had polished it a week ago, and I'm finding that it seems to protect my GG a lot against my corrosive sweat. I haven't had to polish it again with autosol for more than a week now, just give it a quick wipe with a dry cloth every day and slap on a bit of vaseline every 3 days or so. In the past, I've had to polish every 3 or 4 days to keep the shine. Now, it's nice and shiny every day.

Well....it's working well for me so far. I don't have to polish the GGTS to get rid of the tarnish as often now. Basically gone a week without having to really polish it with autosol and it's still looking like freshly polished shine. I just coat it with a bit more vaseline every 2 or 3 days, wipe it down about once a day. Still going great. I've noticed too that the vaseline does seem to get rid of the little bit of tarnish that does stick, coz I tend to get a bit of black on my cloth while I'm wiping it. So far, it's working well as protection from tarnish.

It depends on what you do with it after greasing it up with the vaseline. Sorry, I just couldn't resist, lol.
