This is a re-post from the ikanvape sub forum so i can cover my bases before I make a mistake.
I have an ego-t (1000mAh) that I am wanting to put a tank on.
After reading here about the IBT tanks and adding the IKV cartomizers, that is the way I would like to go, if I can.
Since all the 510 stuff on IKV is out of stock I guess i will have to go with the 801 stuff and use an adapter. No big deal I guess.
So, out of what he has in stock, I have chosen the 801 Mega Fusion Punch 3ohm.
Then looking at the IBT site, there are different sizes (lengths?) in tanks. What I would like to go with is the 22mm tank with the standard tube.

So, here are the questions;
1 - since my ego-t is only putting out 3.3v and everything on the IKV site says 3.7, can I even use these at all, or if it will still work will I just not get a good vape? If this is the case, what tank/cartos would you guys recommend me use with my ego-t?
2 - Will the IKV 801 Mega fit in the IBT 22mm standard tank or do I need to choose a different size?
3 - Even if both 1 and 2 above can be answered in the positive, is this the best setup to go with since I am using a 3.3v ego-t?

Cant tell you if the 801 cartomizer will fit for sure or not because I have never used them. I believe they are the same dimensions as the 510 just with a longer outside sleeve so the threads can be on the inside. That would indicate that they would be fine.

I can tell you that is a pretty big tank for an eGo battery, most of what I have seen used on those slim batteries is the 19mm and a flared cone.

You are not going to be happy with any carto tank set up at such a low voltage. The lowest Ohm carto I have seen is 1.8 ohms, so at 3.3 volts, that is only 6 watts. Pretty low.

I suggest you wait to plunk down the money for a carto tank set up untill you get a better power source. You need to be able to get closer to 4 volts to have an enjoyable carto tank experience.

Thanks OCD. I currently have a tank that a friend gave me (not sure the type or brand) but if the markings on the outside of the tank are to be believed it holds 2.4 ml and is approximately the same width as my battery. The 22mm holds 3ml so unless it is really short and fat, I would think that it would not be a lot bigger around than my battery.
I guess I really need to go find me a tape measure that has mm marks that I can do some measuring with.

You just read my mind. I was thinking the same thing as I was typing the above replies.

Cloud, I am guessing the tank the friend gave you is plastic? The walls are much thinner that the walls on our glass tanks (other than our 15mm). This makes the outside of the tank larger even though the capacity doesnt really go up.

ETA*** Also not everyones claims of capacity are completely accurate. We measure ours for what the tank holds not including what is in the cartomizer.

eGo batteries are about 15mm diameter
most 18*** series devices like the vamo, provari, zmax ect are around 22mm diameter.

AFAIK most non regulated eCig batteries come off the charger at 4.2V and slowly drop off to around 3.6V before needing charged again. It wont be as consistent as using a regulated battery because as it loses its charge the battery can only continue to provide whatever voltage is left in it. That said I use 2.0ohm cartomizers on the little tiny eGo 350mah battery as a stealthy/easy to pocket device and it vapes fine to me while the battery lasts. I am a very low power vaper though so YMMV.

Here's a 19mm carto tank on an Ego battery, with a Protank beauty ring.
Don't know how/where an 808/510 adapter will mess with the fit/look...maybe try a Smok carto (from IBTanked, while ordering the tank) at least to get started?

Agreed. I mostly use fruit flavored juice and the most satisfying flavor/vapor experience (for me) is around 7.8 to 8.3 watts. On a 2ohm carto, that would be about 4v on average. A standard eGo battery (unregulated) would only provide the power needed for a very short time right off of the charger.

(snip...)

It depends on the brand of the eGo battery. The Joyetech batteries (eGo-T and original eGo-C) are regulated at 3.2v to 3.3v. Even with the lowest resistance cartos (1.7ohm), that would only give you about 6.4 watts, which some may not find satisfying. Other (non-VV) ego batteries are unregulated, like the ones you've mentioned, but they don't hold that higher-end charge for very long.

Looks like a 1300mAh Vision Spinner, correct? I have 2 of these that I picked up about a month ago and I use them at work. They seem to be pretty solid and consistent, but time will tell. In any case, the 19mm tank looks real nice on that setup. :)

Thanks for photo Train and Blugen the clarification. I was not aware of the low end regulation on some eGo type batteries. You are also correct that the higher end of the charging curve wont last long but I seem to be able to vape 15mm HalfLing on the 350mah battery which would be about Half a ml.

As mentioned we (The Mrs and I) are low power vapers. At 6W on a DNA20 and a 3.2ohm cartomizer I often wish I could turn it down a little, the SiD and ZMax I run a little higher but not by much.

It's absolutely a preference thing. :) There are many vapers who like the power curve on mechanical mods (and the simplicity/beauty that goes with it), while others prefer a consistent vape experience. I'm of the latter ilk and fall in with the medium power croud with big clouds and moderate flavor. It's all good, and the variety is why it works so well.

OK.ok..After reading all of this I shot down to one of the local shops and picked up an eGo-V V2 (3.0 to 6.0 voltage). I also picked up two knock-off Pro tanks to last until I place my order for a couple of IBT/IKV combo setups.
All I can say is ...HOLY CRAP !!!!
I am still playing with the voltages to find what I like, but so far I agree with running fruity flavors at lower voltages and dark or tobacco flavors higher.
But damn what a difference it makes when you can vape at adjustable voltages. I had no clue what I was missing out on.
Oh, forgot to mention, both tanks (and 5 extras) are all 2.5 ohms.
I can not thank all of you enough for leading me in this direction.
I wish all of you a very happy New Year.
