Will vaping cessation cause awful room spinning nausea?

I need some help. My 1 1/2 years of vaping has me at 12 mls. I mix 24 mls with 1/2 straight VG that I get online. Should equal 12 mls Nic level-right?

The last couple of weeks, I have started experiencing incapacitating nausea and room spinning upon awakening, which stays just below the surface, for the rest of the day. These are typical signs of nicotine poisoning. I have been vaping pretty consistently-small puffs-throughout the day and eve lately- obviously addicted. When I decrease the amounts to 4 or 6 mls etc, it does nothing for me so I thought that I better pack it in, as I was also getting bad headaches, sinus congestion and had read that nicotine itself is very bad for the discs of your spine.

I have advanced Degenerative disc disease/Ankylosing spondylitis, and deal with daily moderate to severe pain, which I have to take 60 mgs of morphine /day for, as well as other pain/arthritis drugs.

Anyway, I have quit vaping completely for 4 days now, and the room spinning nausea is NOT going away-particularly, 1st thing in the morning. I literally hit the walls, cannot walk straight and almost throw up every morning. It eases after coffee, but nausea is not leaving, so I am getting very concerned. In the past ,whenever I overdid vaping a bit, I simply stopped for a day or two, and the nausea went away. NOT THIS TIME. Why are my nicotine poisoning symptoms not going away this time.

I have been experiencing normal brutal fatigue and depression- as per quitting any nicotine- ie- staying in pj's and sleeping on and off all day. But if I move too quickly in any way, I start sweating, skin gets prickly, mouth salivates, room spins and almost puke. Obviously, I'll see my Dr. on Monday but he's old and barely knows what vaping is. Why is it getting worse, not better ,with quitting?

Hmm..I was getting that way with higher nic levels myself. Some people just are SUPER sensitive to nicotine. I had to lower mine to 3mg. I went through the withdrawal phase and my body got used to it eventually. But if the dizziness isn't going away after a few days, I don't know what that could be. Maybe your allergic to pg? I know there are quite a few people who can't use pg at all. They get 100% VG juice. I would continue with your Dr appointment..I really don't know what that could be. My dizziness always went away after a few hours of not vaping.

First off, I'll say I'm no expert on vaping, on the other hand I've experienced nicotine poisoning after swallowing e-liquid. My symptoms died off after a day so I can hardly say it compares. For this reason, along with it continuing after quitting vaping, I'd say it could well be unrelated to nicotine entirely, there are many things that could cause your symptoms, for example, I'm not sure of what causes it but my mother who never smoked in her life used to get these symptoms when I was a teen.
I'd do some googling of what else could be causing this, because you could be going cold turkey for no reason.
Also, if your doctor knows nothing about vaping, he will know about nicotine, just refer to it as that.

I hope some of this helps and I hope you get your problem resolved.

Sounds like you have a case of vertigo. This probably has nothing to do with vaping at all. ask your doc.
I have had bouts of this before I started vaping and also since vaping. Can last a couple of weeks even.
Inner ear can cause this. There seems to be no way to prevent or stop it. It will go away.. But again. ask your doc..
It is very scary to feel this when it happens.. Good success. Hang in there.

Vertigo, why didn't I think of that! Yeah it sounds exactly like vertigo. I get it off and on all the time. Have had inner ear and sinus issues my entire life. It is very scary when it won't go away. Greenwater maybe have your Dr check your ears? You could have fluid built up back there..it is allergy season

All of those symptoms are possible side effects of narcotic pain killers. Can you speak to your doctor about it? Good luck.

I have MAV (Migraine Associated Vertigo). I have suffered this horrible illness for a decade which took 9 years to get diagnosed properly (was misdiagnosed as menieres). What you are describing is exactly what I would get multiple times a day (some would last hours) until I finally got on the right medication which only reduces my "attacks" by 95% thanks to my neurologist, neurolotogist etc...

Anyways on topic.. I sympathize with you on this and know that spinning feeling, nausea, vomiting is NOT fun and can be quite scary if you never experienced it before. Many many things can cause vertigo like neck injuries, BPPV, inner ear disorder or other things going on and need looking at.

What you are describing and having is a classic vertigo attack and yes they can make you vomit. It can even be a panic attack as well by the way and have both at the same time making it worse when you are having some of your first vertigo attacks since they are so darn scary.

I am happy to hear you are going to see the doctor because that is precisely what you need to do. This I strongly feel is not caused by too much nicotine.

Thanks very much to all responders-Wow-that was quick ! Nice group ! I live alone and don't have anyone per say to roll things by, so very much appreciated. You know, my arthritis HAS in fact, kind of solidified a vertebral disc in my neck-kind of half way , i think. And , come to think of it, this has happened before to some degree. My doc did recognize it as an inner ear malfunction of some kind, and RX'd me a med that deals with this stuff. So , I believe that you are right ! It may just have more to do with this inner ear problem/partially fused disc , than it does with vaping at all.

So, i've decided to lower my e-liq to 6 mls, and return to a gradual reduction protocol.I actually feel a little better, with this. And I feel a lot better with all of the feedback , which I believe is correct in the actual cause of this episode. Thank you all responders ! Great forum. I will update on Tuesday after I see my GP.

Talk Soon ! GW in NV

I can say something about nicotine and balance. My hobby is motorcycle skills riding (not stunts). Most of that is balancing the bike going ultra slow or not moving at all. It's very easy for me to detect very small differences in how my balance system is performing day to day. Vestibular, visual, and neural systems work together and any one of them can be varying in capability. Also we can function at least minimally if two of the three are in good order. That's why we can walk with our eyes closed.

I expected my balance to improve slightly by quitting smoking and it did. I also find that nicotine in my system, absent all the other tobacco chemicals, has no effect on my balance and might even improve it slightly.

While it sure could be nicotine, it could also be caffeine, or many other things, not drug related. I've got a ton of problems myself, and my doctors always blame my pain medication for everything, even those problems that existed before pain med's were in my system...

If I were you, I'd vape lower nic levels, like 6mg, while the doctors stumble around with other stuff. You can control your nicotine better, and maybe help rule out other things meantime. While I've never been on straight morphine, most of the standard stuff never helped me with pain, so now I'm on methadone, and it is much better than anything else-with none of the standard loopiness and drama. might be something to ask about, but it requires a good heart and monitoring. With your neuro issues, I'd look to that as a cause first, unless you are not stable with your nicotine intake. Good luck (better than mine, anyway)!!

OKC, OK
I experience those same side effects, not to vaping, it seems to be related to consuming tequila for me! Sorry, I couldn't resist, I know this is serious for you. No idea if your problems are really related to the nic. You are on a forum for vaping asking questions that I think you should really be directing to your doctor though. Seriously, discuss this with you doctor.
