Started this last night. Got the body roughed in. Need to add the electronics, button and some rivets for decorative effect. Afterwards I plan to give it a nice patina.

Looks great, does the gauge work? Would be nice top take ambient temp readings just because you can. You probably won't need to add any patina, just wait three days. :)

I made the gauge myself out of a brass ring with a piece of paper that I drew the face on. Filled it in with hot glue. I browsed around for an actual gauge; smallest I could find was 1/2" from the UK. This is something for me to learn on, once I get good I might do just what you were talking about.

poland, and the brassy lands of google
Some fire extinguishers have smallish gauges on them, but for pressure. I've got a ~8mm compass and a really small thermometer from gimmicky lighters but haven't found a good use for them yet. The brass housing is a good idea. I figured a brass tube for the thermometer, but it is glued to a paper scale and would have to be a rather big tube. The compass would be close to magnets, so it is just something cute on my pile of junk right now.

Cool, I like the faucet handle stand. I'm not sure how small you would want them but you could use round headed nails too, I drilled holes for them and cut the nails very short and pressed them in. Good job to use quality tweezers for that's for sure.

That first sentence has a dual meaning too. :)

I use a NCP630A with a 50k potentiometer. It's a battery hog but I'm not comfortable enough with anything else yet. Once I get my case designs down to a science, I'll upgrade to something better. I love the DNAs but dislike not building my own circuit. Once I get back from vacation I'll be able to dedicate more time to design and function.

I'll hit up the hardware store or hobby store for some brass nails; not a bad idea!
