Wire and/or wich sample packs? And a question about Koh Gen Do.

Are there any (reputable) US vendors who do a wire and/or wick sample or variety pack? I have some stuff that I got from my local shop, but I'd like to try a couple other gauges and maybe even a ribbon to figure out what I like without buying a 25-50' roll of each. And even though I'm 99% sure I'll end up using mostly cotton, I wouldn't mind trying some other wicking materieal either. Anyone know of any?

Also, for those of you who use Koh Gen Do, do you boil it like you do cotton balls? Thanks.

I don't know of any sample packs but you can get it really cheap on ebay. You can get 25 feet of 30 or 32 gauge kanthal A1 for $3.19 and that is with free shipping! You can also get 25' of ribbon wire for $4.25.

The link to the ribbon wire has a comparable resistance to 28 gauge kanthal so that might be what you want or you might want to go smaller. I have never used ribbon wire. I am just going by the ohms/foot numbers.

Thanks I'll check it out. I'm thinking I'll probably end up going with 28 and 30, and maybe .6 and/or .8 ribbon, but like I said, I'm not sure yet. I also want to get that winder gizmo thing. I'm going into town tomorrow and will be driving right by Michaels, so maybe i'll stop and see if they have it...

No... it's not necessary - but then, I don't boil high quality, organic cotton balls either.
