Kinda surprised this hasn't garnered more attention, it works really well and is pretty easy to set up

I'm with you on that. I tell everyone I talk to about this thread. Even sent out some rope samples to people today.... Probably enough to last 6 months haha

I got one running with cotton string around the top and it seems to wick perfectly fine - maybe a little tipping here and there when the tank is low but what top coil dosent need that? But I think I burned the cotton a little and that keeps tasting a bit off... I am going to ty the thread i got next since its thinner and might cover better than the string did. If that still gives me some grief then I might try some silica sleeving I have that I got with the nextel stuff - maybe it will stay together better...

here, there and everywhere
I received my order yesterday for the wire rope. I have to go buy some different wire cutters today. None of the ones I have want to cut this stuff. I am looking forward to trying it. I really hate rolling mesh wicks. My hands cramp up by the time I get one tight enough. The rope I received is perfect size for my DID clone but seems on the thin side for my aga t+ I may try to see if I can get it fed up through my ceramic sleeving. Thanks for starting this thread. I really hope this works for me!!

I'll probably want to give this a try as well. I've been using both the Nextel silica and ceramic sleeving over the top of my mesh wick in my aga t2 with nice results. I too hate rolling the frelling mesh wicks though, the wire rope wick sounds interesting.

What is ceramic sleeving?? Where would one find that if so inclined?

Thanks,

I got mine from Omega.com
The ceramic is Nextel XC-116 or XC4-116 and the silica is XS-116

added: I didnt care for the nextel because the few times I tried it the braid all unravled on the wick as I tried to wrap the coil. But lots of other ppl have used it without problems. I think the silica braided sleeving might stay together better but I havent really played with it yet. Do some searching there are several threads somewhere here on ecf all about it :)
I believe you can also find it at 3m and some other places...

I bought T316 7x7 from ebay and it didn't have a nylon thread.

This thing wicks. I boiled the wire and mesh first. I set it up unoxidized on my Bliss. The flavor is I think the best I've ever had and it wicks non-stop. I can do a continuous burn at about 30 degree and it just goes and goes and goes, with a fresh 18650 battery on a Poldiac. Fantastic. Thanks.

Yeah man! I just tried out a ceramic for the first time. This thing sucks compared to the ss rope! My rope setup over wicks... Ill probably add more mesh after this tank to try and help the juice burn from the over wicking.

This is by far my favorite genesis setup!

So, no more rolling wicks? I'm in like Flynn. Nothing I despise more than rolling wicks. I'd imagine this would work well with the cigarette paper method?

What is the current source for this stuff? Exact link appreciated.

Shorty have you already tried the 1/8" to confirm it wicks as good as the 3/32"? Also with the little larger size it might be nessary to play with different coil wire sizes to get the resistance where you want...

I have not. I only have the one AGA-T+ right now, but I've got a couple more coming from the CoOp. Those will have the 1/8" hole, so I was gonna get some 1/8" rope wire to match. Or I might just get lazy and continue with the 3/32" in a 1/8" hole :/. You're right though, the 1/8" might wick differently from the 3/32", seeing as there are such marked differences between 1x7, 7x7, 7x19, and 1x19 3/32" rope.
