I just wanted to update my usage of the wire mesh from an old atomizer in my e-cigar cart. The performance has been remarkable! Since I put that ball of wire mesh in the cart, I don't get the bad burnt plastic taste. The vapor production has been consistantly like puffing on a new atomizer. It wicks the juice efficiently, and it is still easy to drip fill the cart when needed. I also noticed that the cart wool stays in good shape longer. I don't know about anyone else who has tried it, but for me, it is working perfectly. If you have any old atomizers laying around, you should pull one apart and try it. It is amazing!:D:D:D

Tribble--glad to hear it is still going strong for you. I still have not given it a go, but seeing that I have a pile of this stuff now, I am going to make a cartridge core tomm out of it and give it a go. ----Sun

Thats what I decided to use in the end as well Tribble.....and I am finding it's working far better ...I haven't had any more of that burn't plastic taste ...and although my atomizer life hasn't improved any, I still beleive that 'plasticy' taste could only have been coming from the polyester fibres ....and I sure don't want to vape polyester!

Pete If the atomizer is running hot I get an awful taste...even when dripping and no cart material. Try it....drip and no cart material...and keep puffing on it...once the atomizer gets hot....I get an awful plastic/metal taste.

That could be the silica wick that the atomizer coil is wound around. It might be getting crispy. It's not suppose to burn, but I believe it does, from some of the evidence I have gathered from old atomizers that I have disassembled.

I'm glad that is working out for you tribble.just 1 question, did you fill the cart up completly w/ the mesh? Also ,I can't remember if u filled an 801 or some other model cart....Thanks in advance,Chuck

No, I just put a flatened ball on top of the cart wool right at the open end of the cart. I left the wool in to soak up juice and drip as normal. I need to take a picture of it. I will post it once I get that done. You can do it to any style cart, by the way.

That's exactly the way I have done it Tribble....well I don't know if anything else can make that 'plasticky' taste but I haven't had it at all since I put the metal mesh in the cart.

I'm going to give this a try:

www dot mcmaster dot com (I can't post URL's yet)

Search for steel wool and they have stainless steel wool (Listed as Rustless Metal Wool) in two types of stainless; 434 & 316. The 316 type is more corrosion resistant and is the type used in food processing equipment if it touches or delivers the product. It comes in small order quantities. Would probably be prudent to give it a bath in alcohol then distilled water before use... ;)

Also, there are synthetic wool pads on the page. Not sure if they are the "scotch brite" type of pads or not.

Teflon would be great, but I've never come across it in a form that we could use for this purpose.

Cheers-

Rick
