It should taste exactly the same whether dripping or squonking.
If it doesn't then it has to do with too much or not enough juice in the atomizer...

Too much juice will flood it and make it a little harder to draw on, and the coil will not get hot enough to vaporize the juice efficiently.
Not enough juice, and of course, the well-known dry hit results.

Hi iamtumus :)
You know you are always welcome to post in our subforum if you are having difficulties or you aren't getting the performance you expected out of your REO. We're here to help.

So as far as not getting the flavor you are looking for....what kind of atty are you using? 306? 510? It is true, if you flood the atty, you can lose flavor and in some cases, get a burnt flavor.

If you feel this is happening when you draw juice into your atomizer, may I suggest a light, quick draw. More like a kiss. I know it can take a bit to figure out how it works best for your vaping style...but once you figure it out, it really becomes nearly second nature.

Now that I've said that...I've also searched up a recent write up by another Mini owner who has a different explanation that might work well for you. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/reos-mods/296053-fine-art-squonking.html

Keep us posted :)

i used to be the same - way preferred to drip. then i had to start squonking out of necessity and now it's become easy peasy. once you start you'll get the hang of the levels with trial and error (quite a bit of error).

the taste/feel is slightly different and it baffles me too, but i'll take that for convenience sake.

one thing about juice levels: i can't overstate how important trial and error is. the rule of thumb you'll also see in other threads is waiting for the juice to just peep through in the well and then releasing, and then sucking the juice (without firing the atty) a little bit (one or two small pulls? doesn't have to be too hard). sometimes when i've accidentally over-squonked and i see a bit more juice in the well, i won't dry pull because then i might flood the atty - i'll just vape a bit and then suck the excess juice from the well into the atty after a few drags. trial and error.

If I get to much, I'll ever so slightly blow out through my drip tip (still connected to my reo)...this works well. If it's a new battery, you can usually just vape through a flooding- if not, then either let it sit a minute or if in a hurry blow out gently... all trial and error as stated above. I don't really look in the well for a gleam anymore- I use the "blind squonk" now exclusively and the only time I drip is when I purposely allow the atty to get dry so I can try a different flavor.
