Without naming names - ever suspect some vendors are selling straight Flavor Apprentice, LorAnn, Flavor West or similar flavoring? Or is this in fact the norm? Are the vendors that aren't simply adding these ready made flavors to PG/VG mixes just blending the same stock, or do some actually create their own flavoring as well?

OMG! I was just about to make a similar thread.:laugh::laugh: The only difference is I was going to make mine about FlavourArt.

To answer your question, yes, some vendors are doing that. Granted, some of them are VERY crafty at mixing, thus tricking people (me included) into believing that they are more than just what they are, i.e., an eliquid vendor; but, yes, of course most vendors are just doing this.

The worse part is that many of these commercial flavoring companies offer natural ingredients, i.e., extracted flavors, and then these vendors buy that and sell it as if they were the ones doing it. Oh well.

I love FlavourArt as a simple DIY set of flavors for home usage, but I despise FlavourArt as a set of ingredients that vendors are using (at least when their acting like their not). Yes, this also extends to PFA and LO and whatever else. I love knowing the real deal, but I hate being mislead!

I'd suspect that many - if not most - vendors get at least some - if not most - of their flavors from someone else ...some do create their own specialized flavors, but it's doubtful even those are recreating the wheel on the base, mainstream flavors like "banana" or "caramel", etc.

Yeah I think with so many vendors, at some point you're just going to have things that taste similar because that's what banana is supposed to taste like. Some may vary bit by bit but with so many eventually you're going to have a couple you probably can't tell the difference between.

I would say that most vendors in America do this and most vapers don't know or care. That doesn't mean they're bad vendors or sell bad products. Fuzion Vaper, for example, is totally up front about primarily using TPA flavorings, but also makes some fairly unique mixtures. For the most part though, I prefer vendors that use unique ingredients and/or perform their own extractions.

Of course they use Flavor Art, The Flavor Apprentice, etc. The secret is in their ratios of mixing these flavors to come up with their signature flavors.

They are not in the business of making food flavoring, they're in the business of selling mixed ejuice to vapers. That's why they're so secretive about their formulas. You can actually start mixing your own and come up with your own formulas.

And there's nothing like buying concentrates and knowing, not suspecting, but KNOWING that's the main flavor for a liquid you bought. It's comical and sad.

Nice thread. I think the vast majority of places to buy juice, either online or a B&M, are made with one of the common flavoring brands. I call them generics, since they are similar to each other and can be found for very cheap, though they are also sold very expensive for unexpecting vapers (the vast majority who aren't on an online forum).

Some sold are made by excellent mixers who can take basic flavorings and come up with a unique and complex blends. Someone with a lot of experience experimenting with flavorings and are great DIYers can make juices I'm willing to spend money on. On the other end, I think a lot of vendors take a bottle of grape from whatever brand of flavorings they use, mix it according to instructions, come up with a creative name, and sell that. No thank you, not for me. What bothers me is when they do that simple mix and try to sell it as something special (the most authentic grape vape ever made! Tastes like real fruit!).

I'm going after a different experience than what I've had before when buying new liquid. The common and simple generics won't give me that. Since I vape mainly NETs, tobacco vapes that the vendor actually extracts themselves, most of what I vape is unique. I also like fruit and dessert vapes. For fruit, generic just doesn't work at all for me. They are usually candy flavors and taste that way, and I don't like candy vapes. I want fruit vapes that taste like fruit, only a few vendors do that, and they didn't get there using Lorann or TPA.

I've had better luck with dessert and bakery vapes, so I have a feeling the common versions of flavorings used for those (vanilla, caramel, cream, custart, etc.), are ones that work better for me.

Solo flavor DIY. Ad more until its strong enough. Taste super candy or waxy? Or any number of not good things? Throw away the flavoring. So far I haven't thrown away a flavoring. I have more to try than I've tried. Often I wish I had stuck with the solo flavor too because it was better before I experimented so no doubt a lot of flavors are just one flavoring and nic juice. I always feel the reason they all seem too weak to me is because they basically are weak. If its not an exciting flavor why broadcast that fact by beefing it up? Safe and weak plus prolong the flavoring supplies. So often it's money. That's the world.
And now I'd like to say I tried Mom and Pops from the 1 ml sample online vendor. They've got something going. I'm a fan but I won't be buying premades from them, I'm going to to try and find who's flavors they use! Ha ha that's a compliment btw
I was looking for throat hit at 12 mg nic. Bianca Bliss and Bananas Foster so far . I have a couple more of theirs to try. Their Butter Rum did not have throat hit but it was pleasent tasting...a little weak. Anyway. Back to to rip offs

I've always assumed that most vendors use the standard flavorings to make their juices. I don't get why anyone would be bothered by that. There's an abundance of good flavors already available, and they can be combined in a practically infinite number of ways to make unique blends. Why should they go through the trouble of making those same flavors from scratch?

I guess the exception would be tobacco. The concept of tobacco flavor is relatively new, and there are a lot of tobacco flavorings out there that aren't very good. I could see why someone would want to extract their own, looking for something better.
