The reason is very simple, there is no 18500 batt with 12+ A maximum discearge.
If you look on the data sheet of the dna 30 this si the only safe way to protect people using the wrong batts.

Just did a quick check - AW IMR 18490 1100 mAh is rated at 15c => (1100/1000) * 15 = 16.5 amps max discharge. Shouldn't this be safe? Or am I doing something wrong? DNA30 spec sheet says 12 amps max needed from battery.

Been out of the forum scene for quite some time :) recently DNA30 modes came to my attention and i was looking at the ZNA 30 and the big nasty with the module but omg saw that the awesome team MarkBugs have made a Wizard with the dna, im owner of the first Wizard TI batch and #13 been with me sinced :toast: with a matching infinity for a dam fine drip experience.

Sadly couldnt get my hands on the TI evolved (and hell no im not paying flip prices) but saw the SS in stock on the website hell yeah got it, cant wait !

All Hi-drain / Hi-discharge batteries are good with the WAE-II. Thus, those AW-IMRs are just fine as also the Hybrid batteries.

However, the longevity of the WAE-II will depend on the mAh of the battery inside. Higher the mAh = longer battery life. The Sony VTC series (hybrids) are superb for the DNA30D ~ but their low mAh dictate a faster change-over time between batteries. Their VTC5, at 2600mAh & 30A discharge is one of the best and recommended for the WAE-II.

But I am also using the Panasonic NCR18650PD (2900mAh, 10A discharge, Hybrid) - and this is as good as it gets in terms of high mAh, thus longer life, for our WAE-II. This is highly recommended!

I also have a higher mAh Panasonic, which works bloody well in my mechs ~ but not so in my WAE-II. The Panasonic NCR18650A (3100mAh). It works ~ but gives intermittent "poor battery" msg, which is a pita and thus not recommended. Note: The battery is good, but that 'poor battery' message is due to it not being a "high discharge" battery.

someone here made a list of atties that fit these wizards well, forgot to mention the GMKF20 which fits it pretty well too and is a really nice genie, technically it's 20.4mm but the .6mm difference is barely perceivable and I think it looks really good on there, especially with the drip tip from my chalice which matches the Ti finish pretty good :)
