A leaf spring would be great, but I don't know how to make the grove inside on the drill press. This possibly sounding like a great reason to buy more tools, just don't tell the wife :D

All that you would need is a broaching bit of the correct width. Something like this: http://www.dumont.com/broaches/keyway-sets/.

I'm assuming that it would work similar to broaching out a key way in metal or plastic.

A angled keyway would work. After searching broaching keyway I came across this video Cutting an Internal Keyway on a Lathe - YouTube I think I might be able to do this on the drill press with the table angled 1-2 deg. Then I started searching for flat springs. 1/8" x 1" or close would be great. After searching for a hour the closest I can find is 5/16" x 1" at Steel Flat Spring,1" Length x 0.015" Thick,5/16" Base Width,Screw Size # 6 (Pack of 25): Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific, which might be two wide. It also has a rounded end which might make it hard to get the tube in. I think a square end would be better. Does anyone know a source for these that I don't have to buy 3000 from china?

How about grooves cut inside with o-rings like a carto tank? If the inside diameter of the wood tube is drilled to close tolerance, with a deep enough groove the o-ring should stay in place and hold the battery snug. Might take 2 on each end to be secure. Really think this would work, assuming the tool exist to cut grooves inside the wood tube.

I could use jaws to clamp the blank and use the lathe to drill, but I don't have a accurate way of making or measuring the groove inside the tube. I would also only be able to make a o-ring groove at one end. It would be great if I could do it, really clean simple look that won't scratch the paint. I might be able to get my uncle to make a tool once his hand heals up. Then modify or buy a caliper for measuring in there.
The spring will probably scratch up the paint on the ego.

I just wanted to sing praises to Lewis Gentry and the FABULOUS Mastery of his craftsmanship!
Not a bad photo from off my cell phone camera...

Lewis, have you thought of doing these on a provari? I have a provari that we could arrange as a test... :p

this mod is so comfortable in the hand and feels like glass. It just forms in the hand so beautifully! it is absolutely mesmerizing!

My son Jonathan decided that he wanted to turn a battery tube.
Here is his Segelei LT in acrylic #45 - Peacock. Next week he plans to make a DCT and a tip for it. He does not vape so when finished it will be for sale.

Yep and also the Penelope tank. :)
With these higher end mods like the Penelope and hopefully soon the Provari and DID I would like to make it so people can send me their device to help keep the cost low. On this supplier thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...coating-polishing-more-your-mods-service.html people were sending in their devices and paying to have them polished. Well something happened to the guy and some of his customers lost their mods and money. Months later they still have not heard from him.

Currently for custom orders you are required to pay first and then I make your mod. Eric holds your money until your mod is finished and then I get paid. This way if something happens to me you get your money back. I will have Eric hold $400 of my money to cover mods that will be mailed to me. This should allow two mods to be in my shop at one time. This way if something happens to me you will get your money back plus money to replace your mod that was lost.

That's smart planning and very considerate. But then...no surprise there. :D

A few days ago I updated the wood inventory page with some pictures and cleaned it up. http://www.gentrywoodturning.com/cms.php?id_cms=12

Today I had the day off and decided to make a gallery of LG mods. If your name is not on the list and you would like to see it or if you have other pictures that you would like to see on the list please post or pm me and I will add it. Hopefully this will make it easier to view past work.

Man those are scha-weet! You can put my name on XL3-011 (Glen), and I see you already have me on there for the tank and drip tip. I'm still lovin' this mod with my 1.7ohm cartos in the tank @ 3.7v!

Updated. Good to hear it is still working good for you. Eric told me that the new XL4 heads will fit the XL3 anyone decides to upgrade. Hopefully he will get in just the head like he did with the XL3.

Still say as nice as the pictures look, they just cannot capture how classy they look in person.

So tempted to ask Lewis to turn an Evo, but I noticed the wife has recently carpeted the dog house. Better wait a little while.
Eric said when he gets in some more Evos he will send me one for testing. If your wife ever gets around to scratching up her EP14650 just let me know so I can fix the o-ring groove and refinish it all.

I also see the Griffin on DV. The Griffin - Rebuildable Atomizer Tank
I will have to have him send me one of these also when he gets them back in stock.

She's been real good about taking care of her blue bomber. I'm impressed. She is ordinarily terrible when it comes to taking care of stuff.

Make any headway on a design for a eGo slide on mod?
