So my 1st Woodvil should arrive in the next 2-3 days. I saw the video, and plan on picking up some mineral oil based on what I've read in one of the other threads. Deciding factor for me I guess is that mineral oil won't have a scent like the other choices, tung oil etc. What are some of you guys doing or planning on doing?
And I've seen poly mentioned a few times? Noob question, what is that?

polyurethane--basically a glossy type laquer. if you have a poly finish, you basically just have to apply oil inside the mod (the unfinished wood parts). if you bought an oil finish, then you apply the oil everywhere on the outside and inside.

I bought a mineral oil product from Home Depot that is odorless. Howard's or something--it's marketed for treating kitchen cutting boards.

Do you just put the mineral oil on a rag & wipe it all over it? How long do you leave it on the wood before buffing it off?

To get you started before the pros (e.g., nerak) chime in, you can watch the 2015 woodvil video on Rob's site. At about 5:40 in he talks about how to apply mineral oil to natural finish woodvils.

You should see the imbedded vid at the top of this page: Reo Woodvil

There's also an overlay note about poly finishes only needing oil on the inside every couple of months.

The consensus seems to be the Howard's SunShield. I haven't been able to find it locally. I'll eventually order some. Meanwhile, I'm using mineral oil.
I bought it online. Check this for local places and online. I used Amazon. SunShield | Howard Products

my fingers have smelt citrusy for 2 days....

i finally broke out the Howards Sunshield

I took out my old bottle. Had to really give it a good shake to mix the orange oil into the wax part. I think I got 7 of my wood REO's waxed. I will try to get the next line in the line-up done this weekend. It sure does make them look beautiful!
