My new "Woodie" is a poly coat so I used this Howards on the inside which has NO odor. Note the linked page also has another vid just for you. :)

That one substitutes the orange oil for mineral oil. Still has the same waxes. Another good choice if you choose to not have UV protection.

I don't have a Woodvil, but wouldn't what pipe makers use to seal and protect pipes work as well? They use a block of 100% Carnuba Wax or Bee's Wax and buff it on and off. I've seen 50 year old pipes that still look brand new after a soft cloth rub because of that wax application.

Something like this:
Paragon™ Wax for the Pipe (1 oz) - $14.00 : Fine Pipes International, A Venue for Collectors of Fine Smoking Pipes and Accessories

The Howard's SunShield has carnuba and bee's wax. Not quite the same as them alone though. They sure could not hurt the inside of the wood REO. At the same time they wouldn't penetrate the wood like mineral oil or orange oil.

Is tung oil OK? Mine is not a poly coat... at least I don't think it is. It's a cocobolo and the order says "oil finish". It arrives tomorrow and I want to be prepared...

Tung oil can be used but some find the odor offensive. All of the Howard products that have been mentioned in the thread will work great. If you want something scent free then use mineral oil like Howard Butcher Block and Cutting Board Oil.

I have most wood finishing products on hand, but have followed the lead and used Howards Sunshield on my older Woodvil's ever since I ran a bottle down on line. The note above reminded me that I have a stack of 1# blocks of pure filtered beeswax as well. I may use it on the lighter woods.
