Some modifications I have done, not that the Woodvil needs any improvement, so its more "customizing" I guess.
I wanted to reduce the total height so I removed some material from the brass fitting that holds the 510 connector, to make the atty sit closer to the top of the Woodvil. I guess its now a "LP" Woody.
The switch was removed and a delrin insert made up and installed holding a tiny clicky switch put in place, which turns on a mosfet (IRF6201) that has a 2.2 milliohm voltage drop at up to 15 amps (tested at work), which is a really good spec. But if I have a short circuit in my atty the mosfet may go open circuit or short circuit, not sure which, if it goes open I'll have to replace it, if it goes short circuit I'll have to replace it and the spring, I hope I don't find out. Anyway, the advantage of the mosfet is minimal voltage drop within the mod, and in theory makes this Woody good for coils down to at least 0.3 ohms. But since I use high ohm coils only, I am expecting better battery life.
Finally I removed the gloss finish and now it is an oiled finish, which I prefer, but I might try some Howards wax on it to get a bit more shine. Seems the oak doesn't polish up like my cocobolo 18490's.
I'm still working on a button cover, I can't find one that will fit at Reosmods, I think I'm going to have to make one ;-)
