I wish everyone luck when that day comes. I'll be watching from the side line wishing I could take part, but I've got my heart set on a new resin.

Cocobolo would have to be up there, I read that it doesn't float in water
Not sure of the reason behind the question, so I'll through this in. Hardness does not equal toughness in all cases. Some of the harder woods are more likely to crack when dropped than their softer counterparts.
I have 3 mini 2.1 looking at the woods now, at the Jersey shore we get high HUMIDITY and the SALT !air/mist near the water affects wood more than regular conditions denser woods seem to hold up better. 2 of my mini's have been in regular use for almost 3years now and 1 still brand new tucked away for an emergency, never dropped never a problem (old faithfuls) knock on wood 18650 wood soon. Original empire, chi you, astro, provari mini all dust collectors now, I do use my provari to check new coils though. O REO got me off the sticks and now WOOD or RESIN??? I like oil finished woods. This allows you treat the inside and outside equally. Keep them both treated and you won't get warping. When one surface of the wood has a different finish than the other side they absorb moisture at different rates leading to warping. A cocobolo that also has a natural oil in the wood might be a good choice.
Stabilized wood may get warped and pitted right after the process but I haven't had a issue with any of my many Woodvils from Rob.
