I recently got called back to a good-paying, decent job and was offered a long-term position, which I accepted.

The next day, I found out that they are banning smoking AND vaping on the entire premises, starting 2015.

I'm planning on just toughing it out for 10 hour shifts, and vaping while off work. I am currently at 6mg and ~75/25 vg/pg. I don't even wanna go through the trouble of leaving the premises or stealth vaping... just isnt sounding like a hendonistic approach...
Just another example of big business trying to make/save money....

Im not gonna try to fight it....

...This will just influence me to leave this company, sooner than expected with these type of rules.....

KGB7 hit the nail on the head: legally, the company can't say anything about what you do in your car, even in the parking lot, as your car is somewhat an extension of your home

I've argued about it at schools (had a teacher tell me I couldn't smoke in my car while waiting to pick up sis-in-law. Cop informed him otherwise). I've also had to argue about it at different jobs, both due to smoking and what was in my car (had stopped at the local gunshop on my way to work at a security gig)

Pretty much anywhere in the US, they can't tell you what you can do/have in your car (so long as it's legal)

^^in Texas there's NO smoking on state and school type properties EVEN in your car. Not sure about WI Strings but yeah that officer could've written you up to a hefty tax..er fine. (went through it when picking up my kiddos ..last one graduated in 2012, the cop smoked too..so unless another parent in the waiting line complained he left it alone but it's most definitely against the law in most states)

That stinks Built..and probably based in smoker's propaganda (I"ve found the ones that are more rabid about vaping on the job are the smokers that say "If I can't smoke..then you can't vape" I "get" the company's hard line on it..healthy employees are less expensive on the insurance plans and work more etc.

but to give up a "good paying decent job" these days over vaping (you DO have breaks) until you find another ..is rather insane.

I kinda took a hard line back in the day when I worked on smoke free campus/hospitals, if I can't wait until my lunch break or 8 hours to smoke when I get off..I've got a problem. It used to bother me that I was getting crabby/jonesing come lunch time..

Ed's lucky he can vape at will at his new contract..and has two other guys getting starter gear/juice from him to quit..Vaping-3, smokes-0 Yeah!! *happy dance*

Asking if smoking was permitted on the job used to be part of the pre employment interview process for me. It was so important to me that it typically came before they interviewed me. A few times the interview ended abruptly with a hand shake and "thanks for the opportunity, but you're just not a good fit for me".

I'm glad those days are over.

I was recently told I couldn't vape in the shop at work. No one that actually works back there has a problem with it, but one of the girls in the front office complained that the vapor gave her a sore throat, even though she only goes back their a couple times a day for about 10-15 seconds at a time. Ironically enough, she's a pack a day smoker..... lol

Every place has washrooms and it is illegal to have cameras. Build a little stealth vapor. Hold it in 10 seconds and nothing comes out. I amaze myself the places I have vaped. Catch me if you can! LOL

and exhaling through a shirt/jacket helps the cloud too ;)

I also work at a NO smoking/Ecig at work place....to include your car in the lot.
BUT...it's ok for me to weld/burn/machine parts with no exhaust fan  I have asked a number of times as some other too....boss is ok with me vapeing but not in front of him and other bosses ;)

" I "get" the company's hard line on it..healthy employees are less expensive on the insurance plans and work more etc.

Horse Hockey on both accounts.
Employers pass added cost directly to employees and more than ever directly to the higher cost employee. Non-smokers can no longer complain of higher cost - smokers pay the difference.
I have watched cost loss for years, and had my own business for 23 years. Lazy and Poor health employees cost money whether they smoke or not and with more Non-smokers in the work force non-smokers are costing the employer more than smokers ever could.

Next?

People need to STOP falling for Propaganda regardless of topic. Smoking/Vaping/Health cost/War - Propaganda is the front for an Agenda period!

8yrs. with current company. No, I repeat NO days lost to illness.
This Year - 8 Months and counting - Battling with workers Comp to get a WORK injury taken care of.
Never in my life has illness severely effected me doing my job.
Company regulations, Insurance Red Tape and poor State over site have turned my life upside down.
I can only imagine what tens of thousands of others Go through in the name Co. PROFITS and feel bad for every single one.

Dimitri expressed it best - Vaping has brought back something to America. Small Business is popping up all over This Great Land.
Vaping has brought back the great American Dream.

Big Business and Government cannot have that. They have spent Billions and Years beating people into submission and shaping us to their will.
It is time this STOPPED!:glare:

I work at a Cancer Center that is also located on a HUGE medical campus, so know of these troubles. I enjoy vaping but my job always comes first.

I usually walk a good half mile (give or take) to find a nice peaceful spot. Its also a good way to just get some fresh air and some cardio going. Maybe a trip to your vehicle would be perfect. I cant do that though as I take the metro to work.
