The only successful arguments are the ones that work.
:)

If truth were all that mattered, we would all be vaping at our desks.
But things are much more complicated than that.

Who makes the rules?
Who are they listening to?
Are they already ANTZ to begin with?
What size is the company?
Is there a corporate policy in place?
Is there influence from insurance companies?
Are there any "rule makers" that have a clue about electronic cigarettes?

If you want good arguments, assuming good arguments will matter...

In my opinion, the best arguments are...
--No harm to bystanders
--No need to take smoke breaks
--Nicotine has been shown to increase concentration
--Nicotine has been shown to increase attention
--Nicotine has been shown to increase memory
--Nicotine is not much different from caffeine
--The propylene glycol we exhale sterilizes the workplace

These are all great, rational, and logical points. Unfortunately, I work for a company that is very much ANTZ, so I doubt that it would make any difference in my workplace :(

I think more and more work places are beginning to adopt the idea..

I wish mine would. I work for the State of Oregon. The governor recently put through a ban on all forms of nicotine use at work, to include chewing tobacco and vaporizers. He's decided he's going to force us into living the way he thinks we should.

I'm becoming an anti societal, criminalistic anarchist, without doing anything except what I've been doing all my life.
I haven't changed, but the labels attached to me, and the consequences of my harmless actions have.
The world, andnmy country right along with it, is going to he'll in a rocket propelled hand basket.
These days if a thing is considered mainstream I am pretty sure I should reject it !
Rant off.

i was never told first hand i couldn't vape at work...a guy i work next to who vaped told me he was told he couldn't in the building because they weren't sure if they'd set off the smoke detector, well no one ever got back to him on the topic

i can go outside and vape, we have a rule of no "lit" nicotine product on property...but some of the guards and higher ups still give ppl problems while others dont....so i kind of just dodge the situation except on lunch i'll go vape in my car

but i've also found myself taking quick vape hits at my desk and not exhaling vapor, or i've also gone in the bathroom as well...i can't or dont usually take huge vape hits in the building but it gets me through

I like the first 2 reasons but, personally, I'd leave off the others. Reasons 3-5 make it sound like you need nicotine to concentrate. Reason #6 is going to sound suspect to most people and reason #7 is kind of ridiculous. I have some direct reports at my job and that's what I would think, anyway . .. and I vape! If one of my employees came to me and asked if they could vape at thier desk I would say definitely not - but you can go outside or, hey . .if nobody notices then it didn't happen.

I do my own vaping in my office, in my car, in the bathroom, etc . .but I never blow big clouds of vapor inside at work - not even in my office since somebody could walk in at the wrong time and encounter a cloud of Bobas Bounty.

I guess it all depends on your company's culture . .I work for a financial services firm - very conservative.

I'm not holding my breath, no pun intended. If I can swing it cool, if not, won't freak me out. I'm used to being a minority non conformist, but I am compiling some notes for Monday morning, plan on using some of this as a conversation topic. that and the fact that I have tried for YEARS to quit analogs, and this was the only thing that ever worked for me. so thank you, everybody. even the "don't smell like an ashtray" thing, but I believe I will leave that out. keep em coming.

can I ask you where I can find out exactly what "no nicotine" means, the specific law this ... clown passed? seems like it may have a loophole or two if nicotine orally via gum is ok, but orally via vapor is not? same with a patch, it's still nicotine. thanks man.
