Hi all new guy here havinvig a prob with my new e cig. I tried this smoking alternative before and failed miserably because of the same issue. Now I read some reviews and decided to give it another shot and I really want this. I just recently bought a modern vapor 902. My issue is that I cannot get it to work consistently. I clean my atty every night by rinsing it under hot water and letting it air dry every night. I am using the blue foam to do my own carts and it just seems that some times it will work good (Meaning that I will have good vapor production, good throat hit, consistent hits, and my carts will actually be mostly drained when they are done.) Then the next day after following the same routine it will not work good. (Crappy vapor production, bad throat hit, inconsistent hits, the carts don't last long at all, and there is still juice left in them.) I have watched so many youtube vids on vaping and I have researched it for hours on end. This is what I want to do and when it is working good I don't want a analog cigarette but when it is not working it just frustrates me even more and drives to by regular smokes. If anybody has any advice for me to help me get through this transition successfully and join the club I would be really greatfull! I am a computer geek in the IT world and I believe in technology and it's wonders. I want to put my trust in this and I know that new technology has it's bugs. I would like to buy my GF one and have her join me on this journey but before I do that I would like to make sure that I can get it to work properly consistently because I am a nicotine addict and I have to have a steady system. Any little peace of info would be appreciated.

Thank YOU!

Before I bought my first device, I read many many post like this from people talking about cleaning atomizers every day, soaking in vodka, or whatever. Way too temperamental for me. I also read a long thread about how users of the 3 piece devices basically need to carry a roll of paper towels around to clean up their messy ecig. It just sounded gross!

Anyway, I am a huge fan of cartomizers you screw onto a battery without the extra atomizer piece. I just vape my kr808 all day, charge the battery while I sleep and refill a few cartos a week, which takes maybe 10 minutes. I have about six flavors and changing them out is like screwing in a light bulb, and they work every time (ok, I'm SURE that someone can think of a time when one of theirs didn't..).

I guess it appeals to some people, but I can't imagine why anyone would want to mess with a device that is not really that user friendly, that you're constantly modding, messing with, and dripping ejuice into every five minutes.

If you're frustrated, I suggest going with a simpler unit, and not just buying a 510 or 902 because everyone and their brother on this forum recommends them.

You don't have to clean your attys that much. I'd have to agree with Deadguy. Sounds like your attys are retaining too much water in the wick. I MIGHT clean an atty once a week. If you use multiple flavors, might be a good idea to have more than one atty then and you can swap them out as you change up the flavor. Keep in mind, sometimes air drying over night does not allow all the water moisture to dry out.

Cartomizers are a good suggestion. You might also try the Janty Ego, a modified 510 with a bigger battery. So far I'm getting amazingly consistent vapes off mine, though I only just got it. Anecdotally, people seem to be giving it high marks for consistently. OTOH, I am having to add a few drops into the cart every hour or so. It's a far cry better than the Blucig though, where I basically had to drip the atty every 5-10 minutes or it sucked.

Cartos seem like the least micromanagement, so that may be the way to go for you. I'd say it's either that or get an Ego.

Hey Drummin,

I've been vaping for a month now. I stated with the 510, and have recently upgraded to a Tornado. I've never had problems with my atomizers that weren't user errors. If I have trouble with vapor production, it's usually because I flooded the atty.

For me, my consistency is lost in the cartridge. I'm still playing around and tweaking with pyramid tea bag filler. I've also started experimenting with 510 cartomizers. The cartomizers already have the consistency I want, but I'm judging to see if they are an economical option. So far the ones I have are free because a co-worker didn't like the flavor. I don't like the flavor either, but I can tolerate it enough to use it up and refill with my own liquid.

My suggestion for your immediate situation, if you have a good vaping day, don't clean the atty! If it ain't broke, don't fix it. :) See if that helps?

I will have to agree with what has been said before. Although starting with a 510 kit with cartridges, for example is a good place to start it may not suit everyone. there could be a number of variables going on, who knows.

Your best bet is to go with a cartomizer. They are very simple. Just put it on and go. They greatly outlast standard cartridges and are meant to be disposible. You don't have to toss them after the first use, although. You can refil them and it's as simple as riding a bike. Eventually after a few refills they will stop working, but thats to be expected. They are disposible after all.

510 cartomizers are about $8.00 for a pack of five. About $1.60 each. You can probably get 6-9 refils out of one cartomizer. I use just about two full cartomizers worth in a day. Let's say 7 refills on aeverage, that's about $0.22 a day in cartomizers. Average price for liquid is about $0.30 per ml. Two cartomizers is just about 2ml. So, you're looking at $0.82 a day roughly.

Cartomizers might be more expensive than refilling cartridges, but only by a smidgen. You can't put a price on convienence.

Best of luck & GET SOME CARTOMIZERS :D

I agree with woolfe99.

I don't understand why you chose the 3 piece ecig where you have to buy spare atomizers, and maintain them and worry about them, or deal with Iced tea bags or fish tanks.

I use the vapor4life 2 piece. I never understood people who want to buy the 3 piece plus spare atomizers for their first ecig. People I have personally met said they actually went from the 3 piece to the V4Ls.

I hear so many stories from vapers who clean and clean their atty's and report so many frustrations. I've been using the same atty since I started 40+ days ago - no cleaning, no soaking. If it seems weak I blow it out into a paper towel and that's it. The carts and atomizers can be a pain in the rear though and frustrating having to keep batteries charged and all that too. Although I have the eGo, so I don't worry much about batteries anymore....

For true no-muss, no-fuss vaping though, I'd recommend the Vapor King from Vapor4Life-Because it's your life - E-Cigarettes/Smoking Alternatives (get the one with the better battery if you choose this) It's a simple two piece PV -- battery and cartomizer -- easy to refill, juice lasts longer and can be filled and ready to go the night before. No more messing with atomizers, cart mods, etc....

Good Luck

ps in case you didn't already know: vapor king is aka KR808 model

Hi all new guy here havinvig a prob with my new e cig. I tried this smoking alternative before and failed miserably because of the same issue.

I had the try, try again problem, mine were mainly battery issues though more then vapor problems. Yes I have a point ;-) Sorry if I ramble.
After trying a few different models including 2 and 3 piece sets. I have found that I would recommend the Vapor King battery from vapor4life and cartomizers to anyone just starting out or just leaving the house in general. I have been ordering from them since Dec and have never had a problem. They (vapor kings and cartos) vape longer than a 3 piece model and they are easily refilled when they get low if you choose to do that. They (the battery) can be used with a 901 atomizer and cart if you choose to use a 3 piece model. I have actually been doing that at home and using the cartomizers when I go out and about. I got my eGo today, I have been chain vaping that all day and am extremely happy with it and have ordered an adapter so I can use my V4L cartomizers with it. I think with my eGo and v4L cartos I will be one happy camper finally. It has taken a yr. and a lot of frustration and patience but I finally do not need to smoke real cigs any more.
I know there are adapters for battery to cartomizers etc. Maybe you can find an adapter to match your batteries that you already have so you can try the cartos before buying a whole new kit? I am sure someone with more experience could be better able to tell you which one goes with your model if you don't know already what model number (ie 901, 501 blah blah blah) yours is. Adapters are fairly cheap , at least less expensive then buying a whole new kit until you see what you like.

I use an MKII have trouble with consistant vapor and throat hit, mabey I flooding the Atty or I'm using it to much, have to fill cart and drip ever 15 min sometimes, (even sooner) It just bugs me that my$12 dse901 passthrough works perfectly all day long and my big bad batt, device is giving me so many inconsistant vapes and throat hit, any and all suggestions would be apprecieated, and no I'm not knocking the device, I'm sure It's something I just haven't figured out. Have a dripper on order mabey that will be the answer to my prayer :):D

Did you search this forum before buying? There are forums designed for each e-cig and someone there will be familiar with your particular one. I have never heard of a 902  and I was lurking here for a long time before posting. Is it a 510 as I see a lot of posters referring to that. I have an atty and cart on one of my ecigs and I also do not clean the atty very often; usually only to clear it of an unwanted flavor. Every time you do that you have to reprime and that's too much trouble for me. I just picked up a few 401 kits for friends and I didn't even tell them to clean the attys and I won't until it is absolutely necessary.

I have the exact same thing going on right now rthom, Im also using the SD MKII. Today I odered a 901 to 510 adapter and some cartomizers to see if that solves the issue with inconsistant performance. From my trials with a friends custom mod using 510 cartomizers this "should" work. My perspective is each PV has a learning curve and I just havnt figured it out yet, Im hoping to take a short cut and go with cartomizers for ultimate ease of use instead of actually working out the kinks with the SD. (This isnt a knock on the SD at all, I fell its one of the best battery mods out there, its more my lazyness or inability to learn then anything.)

Thank YOU!

Let me save you a LOT of money & grief.. if you want an eCig that produces consistently good flavor, vapor & throat hit ...from first vape to re-charge... I 'definitely' recommend you start with a ($40 shipped) Manual Joye 510 (no box) Starter Kit from Cignot. You get two complete eCigs with a wall charger and 5 pre-filled cartridges. (I recommend the Marlboro high nicotine ones). The Joye 510 produces TONS of vapor & flavor and is the highest quality eCig out there for the Money.. hands down. While you're there... go ahead & order some of their Joye Smoke/Tobacco flavored Nicotine Liquids.... 24 mg strength is a great Nicotine level and will keep you away from the Analogs. I've tried EVERYTHING and in my humble opinion nothing comes close to the Joye 510 eCig... (except for the Janty eGo and some of the more expensive MODS and what have you)... but since $ is an issue, as it is for MOST of us, then the Joye 510 is what you NEED to start with... and end with. You could also add a Personal Charging Case for $25.00 while you're there at Cignot too. That allows you to re-charge your eCigs while you're out & about.. and the PCC sort of resembles a traditional cigarette pack/case. That's OK.. you can THANK me later.. they ALL do.. (Be sure to tell 'em Eve sent ya!!!)
