Okay I'm pretty new to this forum but have been vaping for over a year now. Some of you know that I have posted that I'm the worst kayfun builder. You know what, this is true. I can build dual coil twisted wire build in my RDA's, build nice mesh genesis builds(which is probably the hardest), and Kanger Protank single coil cotton builds. I have been on an off with the Kayfun for 6 months now. It was the worst enemy and I almost gave up. I build it, damn what a build, but it started leaking and gurgling. WxTxF! Never give up and but put it off to the side. Mind you I have 3 of these just sitting in a dish because I end up building and just taking apart because it wasn't right. I ended up converting one of them to a dripper, the SOV dripper mod and has been great. I think to myself, why couldn't this be so easy.

Well it happen today. After 10 beers and fighting this thing. My Kayfun build is official, it doesn't leak or gurgle. I know all of you say, WxTxF, this guy is so proud of a Kayfun build. Well if your like me a very techno savy guy who couldn't master something so primitive. Well I've been owned for 6 months, by my Kayfuns and it wasn't fun.

28 gauge 7 wraps comes to 1.1 ohm. I'm proud of this baby and probably will not take this apart. Yeah when the juice runs out, I"M NOT GOING TO REFILL IT. hehe. Again did I say I was the worst Kayfun builder.

I've been down that road, still new to all of this. I figured, " I'm a locksmith, I deal with small parts and pieces all day, every day, piece of cake!" WRONG! Got a decent build on about the tenth try! Now my fogger on the other hand still has me a bit torqued, just can't seem to find what I want from my attempts so far!

Still have high hopes for it tho!!

Keep at it I guess??!!

I was lucky enough to have a friend sit down and show me the ins and outs of the k-fun

The fogger is nice. Fairly simple depending on the wicking. And trust me when I tell you. The cool builds are simple. It's the wicking that matters most

That SOV top cap is cool. I have one as well.

You tube is your friend when trying to learn about this stuff Watch about 10 videos from different people. Then apply and. Retry lol

I have 6 various Tobeco,Infinate,Fasttech kfun clones which have all gurgled & leaked. Sat down to rebuild them yesterday paying close attention to the seals. I made sure to lube the seals with ejuice before assembly, threading the parts carefully, making sure the seals were not being pinched & seated correctly.Today all are vaping great, no gurgling or leaking. This is the first time I've had them all working great at the same time!!!:vapor:

Yeah, sounds like it's not the coil that's the problem but the wicking. Can't sympathize as I nailed it on my first try. In general:

dry hits/burning: you've either have too much wicking or packed it too tightly

leaking: not enough wicking or wicking not covering the juice channels

In general, keep the wick diffuse and just tuck it in lightly over the juice channels.

Congrats. I soo know the frustration.

Bought a Kayfun lite plus clone Friday. I was thinking I should have bought two, cause I was ready to launch it across the room.

Build #1 was just awful. Ugly coil, wick was too small, it was 2.9 ohms, and it leaked everywhere.

Build #2 (after all the juice leaked out) was still ugly, 2.2 ohms, and leaked another 3 mil of juice all over the place. I was sticky all over, and VERY mad. God, I needed a cigarette.

Build #3 four hours later, and going thru a Nautilus mini's worth of 20 nic juice. I was calmed down. Got out the 28ga wire the shop gave me, and found I had a lot more wire to work with to get down to 1.5 ohms - my target. (I had been using the tiny robot hair that came with the unit) Got a nice, pretty coil. But now the bigger wire wouldn't fit under the microscopic screw heads and stay put. Finally wrapped an eyelet around my watchmaking tweezers, and took the screw right out. Success. Test it. 1.5 ohms! Made a nice long wick out of a cotton ball, and said "screw it" and put the chimney barrel on and stuffed the wick all around the deck. Covered up the feed holes good. (Thought for sure I'd read they needed to stay open) put it all together, and BAM! Leaked not a drop. Still 1.5 ohms. Big question: will it wick up and work? Filled it to the top with my last 5-ish mils of juice, still no leaks.

I let it sit while I drank a beer. Then, loaded it onto my itaste 134, 8 watts. Hit 'fire'. Darn near died. The cloud was bigger than I was used to, and more saturated with flavor. And nic. Gotta cut the 20 in half for this thing.

Vaped all weekend on it.

Sorry for the horribly long reply, but I thought I was the worst Kayfun builder - and I just got lucky.

I have put my kayfun clone off to the sides numerous times because I couldnt wick it right. It hasnt come back out since.

I stopped trying to do it like everyone said to. "Lightly wet the wick and lay it on the deck". Blah. I cut the wick long enough to be able to reach the larger threads. Then, I let them dangle through the chimney tube (mine is 2 pc, I see some look like a 1 pc unit, and this won't work) and screwed the tube on without the top. I then snaked the ends around with a toothpick somewhat like they say to, but I left them kind of fluffy, and stuffed the excess around (not real tight) like Zippo wadding. It sucks up the juice great and doesn't leak.

I also used a 1/4" X 6" piece of cotton ball rolled into a wick. Then cut it to length after I snaked it through the coil.

Just how I did it. Probably not the correct way - but it works, and doesn't leak.

I've noticed some of the clones don't have the feed channels machined very well. Looks like the threads would choke them off before the juice even gets to the wick.

I don't know who made mine. It's well done, though. Threads are all perfect and the machining is well done. Only problem is it doesn't have the screw in the bottom so as to be able to bottom-fill it.

I agree I have two EHPro KFL's and they work perfectly. I got a fastek KFl from a guy at work for $5 said it always leaked after examining it the channels were not as deep or sharp as the EHPro and threads were not as good either. Not all KF are the same I think its the cheaper machined jobs that's discouraging people.

Exactly. I was going to get a $13 special from e5cigs, but they actually posted pics of what they were selling. The vertical and horizontal channels didn't meet, and even if there was no wick at all in it, I doubt any juice would get to the deck. If you wet the wick with juice like many recommend, you wouldn't notice it until the wick ran dry.
The cheapie also had terrible threads. I'm a machinist, and they made me cringe just looking at them. I would bet you'd never get all those tubes to thread together and actually seal worth squat. If the bottom of the chimney tube leaks, even if you have it wicked right, the build deck will just fill with juice if it sat overnight, and come out the air hole. (Or the base into your 510 connection if you don't have a plus.)

I gave $30 for mine, and felt kinda bad about it. But, I don't anymore. You get what you pay for, I guess. :)
