My understanding is that a possible side effect of nicotine is having "vivid" dreams. I have them, but my dreams are generally interesting and sometimes like an adventure novel. I enjoy them and try to remember them when I wake up. I rarely have nightmares - we're talking one in several years. I can see that if you're prone to having nightmares, it could be disturbing. For me, it's almost always fun.

Had a nightmare the other night, though. Probably the first in maybe 10 years (that I remember, anyway). Even that was interesting, so right after I woke I was trying to remember the details. I was throwing some elbows into the bed when I got up. Major adrenaline flow. Good thing my wife had already gone to work, or she might have taken a few of the elbows. :p

Only reason I knew about the possible side effect is because it is in the literature that comes with the patch. When I was trying the patch I looked forward to my dreams. :)

Who knows? Maybe the FDA will require that kind of warning.

I suspect it's smoking cessation or too much nicotine. Try reducing your nic intake before bed.

This must be rare, and is probably related to your stated disorders/health issues.

I would also like to see any legitimate claims that this is caused by vaping. I read TONS of articles on vaping every day, and I have not heard of this. But nicotine is a stimulant, so perhaps when combined with your particular brain chemistry at bed time, it has the potential to cause nightmares??

I wish you the best, and there are LOTS of helpful and caring people on this forum, so please post back how you're doing, especially after reducing the nic levels at night.

I've suffered extreme anxiety my entire life, along with clinical depression, and suffered dreadfully with PTSD since an almost-fire in a mobile home (arcing wires and mobile homes are NOT a good mix!)... I've had some doozies of fire-nightmares with the PTSD, but nary a one from vaping, even when I was still smoking. The only thing that too much nicotine ever gave me was stomach pains, pounding heart, nausea, and a restless jittery feeling. Zero nightmares -- well, unless you count the one where I was smoking, and thought that meant I had to go thru the whole quitting thing all over again -- that's nightmare enough for me. :D

One nightmare, no matter how awful, does not indict the entire phenomenon or industry.

Not sure if the OP is a hit piece or not, but there are many things we consume that can cause nightmares.

Many prescription drugs are one cause, here is a list, from here. List of prescription drugs that can cause nightmares.

Also some folks have reported nightmares associated with Tylenol. Not sure if it's the acetaminophen or the red color 40 or both as they individually have been reported to cause nightmares by many people.

Did your e juice contain any artificial food colors?

Nightmares are scary, my granddaughter had a bout of nightmares and would wake up screaming and pointing at the wall as if there was someone there. This happened after my wife gave her children's Tylenol to bring her fever down. A quick Google search and we found we weren't alone. Be careful what you put in your body, there can be unwanted side effects such as these. :2c:

I have recently started vaping, and I am dreaming every night about different juice flavours, whether I should go higher VG, if a mech mod is superior to vv/vw, what my ohm sweet spot is, and what really is the best RTA for flavour. I am also finding that I am spending all of my spare time reading vaping blogs and checking out DIY supplies and Chinese mod websites, along with spending the "savings" from smoking on items I never even knew existed only three months ago. .

Would this be a known side affect of vaping? :)

On a serious note, I got the vivid dreams when going cold turkey before I stumbled upon vaping, I think it was nic withdrawal, maybe the nic level in your juice is not right for you.

Just one more thread where conclusions are jumped to and vaping is blamed. Is there no end to this?

Why do so many blame any and everything on the vaping? I will never understand this logic.

FYI. I have suffered from major depression and panic disorder for over 15 years. I have had some crazy dreams and nightmares. It never once occurred to me to blame vaping. In fact I know what caused this for me. Some of the drugs I've been prescribed for my conditions have caused some crazy dreams and nightmares and for the entire period of time I took said drugs.

This is a new one. These kind of posts keep popping up. The aspect of my personality that only goes outside with a tin foil hat realizes that these kind of threads can only be created by "Big tobacco" moles or bored politicians.

Threads are created involving health issues from .... bleeding to nightmares. 99.99 percent of the time the OP states the actual underlying cause of their "vaping" side effect during the intro.

Wow! Never heard of such a thing. I will pray for you my friend. I smoked for well over 47 years, starting out experimenting at 8. when I started vaping I had no trouble at all. Just put down the stinkies picked up my vape pen and went on from there. I have OSA and use a CPap machine but I have never had any such thing happen to me. Mercy I feel so bad for anyone who goes though such things. Take care and best wishes!
