I found 2 strips of old credit card under the coil while you are tightening it made it much easier to hold the wire in the right place, keep the rod in the coil, hold the ends of the wire down and tighten.

Great idea! I wish the set screws had fine teeth to bite the wire. I think all grubs stainless should have them. That might be best for not pinching the wires off. Thanks

They'd have to be extra fine or you'd get either a grinding into the wire, or an immediate shifting of its' position as you screw it down. And it would make our grubs a specialty item.

Now... if you scored the face that the screw presses the wire into... I could see that.

I saw a review vid on Youtube where the host placed his thumb under the wire and on the outside of the post when tightening. The next time I have to replace a coil I will try both of these methods.

This is what I have been doing, although it is difficult to see if the wire is getting trapped properly.

Just built my first one. Took a bit of watching videos and had to wind two coils because the clapton I made ohm'd out at 0.85 so I did it with 7 wraps of 22ga SS for a 0.28 build. Not caring for it in TC mode on my smy sdna75 but it's quite nice in the low 40w range so far. I can see I will be refilling it with juice often but it gives a nice flavor for sure. Not quite as nice as the other single coil tank (Merlin) I have built but that has a 0.4ohm clapton build in it and is a much taller tank.

I believe some screws come with teeth. Any improvement to the screw being better secured in anchoring wire is my thoughts.Especially in this case where the wire is not as simple in a vertical angle of anchor. But yes agreed, scoring the inside of the post is a darn good idea. A tool that scores the post(inside the drilled hole) after drilling it out is a great idea. But surely the cost would be more and I doubt it would be cost effective enough to implement(from a manufacturer's point). Thanks

Replying to my own here. McMaster Carr has knurled grip set screws in M3 and on up sizes stainless. Playstore also has their App if anyones interested. Good service but stainless is a little pricey. But the fact they have sizes we use often is nice.

Serpent 25mm version rocks! Easier to build on and the flavor is just as good as it's little baby brother. I installed a single coil, .3 ohms, vaping it at 26 watts. Just a tiny bit taller than the org Mini. No leaks for about half a day of use. I would post a picture but my phone doesn't play well with Tapatalk or I'm too dumb to get it to work properly.

This thing was just made to be on this brushed silver pico. My new traveler tank when I have a few errands to run around town for sure.

First 25mm review... excellent. Keep us posted.
I want one (or two) but don't have the mods to fit it without overhang. :(

    Like that'll stop me. :p

    Pretty slick for sure. :)
Yes, I like the looks and the tank's vape/flavor. This was my first time winding my own coil as well (finally) and now I can make use of all this SS316L wire I bought.

It's giving a great TC vape on this pico, much better than I was getting on the SMY SDNA75 with this tank/coil combo but it seems that DNA board requires tweaking of profiles with each new coil I put on so I will have to play with escribe some more. I had it set up great for the 0.5 ohm SS coil in my cubis but that TCR doesn't work as well with this 22ga 0.2 ohm build. The TC also seems to help with how fast it was drinking the juice.

I gotta look into the Pico more. I swore off these things, but I want another small mod. I don't use tc, or ss wire, vape around 10 watts.
It's a great little cheap mod imo and great for that type of vaping (and decent enough to push sub ohm tanks over 50w). It is easy to pocket with most any tank under 23mm and at that wattage you will get great battery life. My roomie uses it for MTL at 15w and she usually has 30 or 40% battery left when her 5ml nautilus tank needs to be refilled. It is my go to mod when I have to travel. I have 7 or 8 of them and plan to grab a few more.

The DNA and 316 haven't played well together until recently.

The latest firmware lets the 200 board match what the 75 has been doing for the past few weeks.
The difference is night and day... seriously.

Although the 75 should have the latest improvements, it's worth double checking that it has the updates which may or may not have been released after Daniel set up the SDNA.

And the new 8/8/16 Escribe is worth the download as well... lots of usability tweaks.

I have mine running ATM right along with the DNAs.
But I have a soft spot for JTech's current take on TC, features and mod interfaces.

Figured I have enough of theirs (~12), but...
I do have a Full Black arriving from FT in another couple days. :p

Idk what style of mods you like but zero over hang on the Innokin Coolfire IV with replaceable 18650. Good price, great build quality and I love the way it feels in the hand.

I'm definitely getting another 25 in black at the right price.
