Hi All

I would like to hold an auction on ECF in the coming week with all proceeds going to the charity www.torussiawithlove.ie for whom I am running a marathon in June and holding a quiz night in Ireland for in July. I have been contacting admin for a couple of weeks but also wanted to ask what you all would think about having the auction in this classifieds/swaps or another forum?here are the prizes:

www.thevapurstore.ie sponsored this electronic pipe in a beautiful presentation box

Electronic Pipe - DSE-601 E-Pipe - Electronic Cigarette | E-Cigarette | E-Cig - The Vapour Store

and also this nomad dse905 mod in silver

Electronic Cigarette Starter Kits - DSE-905 V3 Starter Kit (Silver or Black) - Electronic Cigarette | E-Cigarette | E-Cig - The Vapour Store

E-cigs.co.uk kindly sponsored an ecigar starter kit in a beautiful black and gold presentation box.

The winning bid includes shipping so do remember this(i will pay it myself and keep all auction money as donation to charity). If anyone would like to view the letter of confirmation of my participation in events for this charity please pm me for a copy or the admin j0ker can confirm having viewed this.

Let me know what you guys all think? I will also be looking through my own personal stash of TV liquids to see what I can bear to part with(def. a full btl of tastyfinger will havta go....sigh)

thanks all

cass

While I wish you luck in your endeavors I must say that here I would participate in an auction that benefited the fight against ecig bans. Probably not another type of auction unless it was a fund raiser for an ecf member in need.

hiya,

okay I see and respect your point.perhaps with the vendors permission i will sell them straight out if there isnt the interest and just mention that proceeds are for a charity. I am passionate bout ecigs but I have other things that I feel are important too and want to support too...it might be a good idea for another member for this but i've already committed to this.

thanks for your input.any other suggestions welcome

I would have to agree, I think more people would be willing to support a cause related to e-cigs then anything else.

I also understand that selling these items outright would not bring you as much as they might in an auction but then again they are not, sorry to say this, all that special in terms of devices.

You might try to put them up on Craigs list, people who are unfamiliar with the costs of e-cigs might pay more, but I don't know if they have this in Ireland.

Can you and some friends get together with a bunch of items there and hold your own auction?

Hi Col. Gaunt

Thanks for your input. I have thought a while on the previous comment and completely understand the thoughts behind it. I was however given these items to sell for a purpose and that is what I will be doing. I didnt actually hope to get any more for them by doing an auction style(thought it might bring less actually) and I am happy to just sell them as any other person would on classifieds - just thought if someone wanted these in particular they might be happy to see the money go to a good cause.

I guess I am somewhat disappointed that although the community is ecig related and this is its purpose that people who might want these items anyway may be turned against getting them because they are not for an ecig cause : o(

I have my doubts that they will get their full retail price and as I am prepared to pay for shipping costs to US or wherever I thought this might reduce the cost again and make people more interested in purchasing them.

Finally, my thoughts when bringing ecigs into the equation of my fundraising was that I had asked other companies non ecig related and was willing to put their logos and business cards at the venue so why not try and promote ecig suppliers too at my event in Ireland. They are relatively unheard of here and I think it would be great advertising for ecigs and ecig suppliers(also i will have mine on the night to show off ; o) ) If not directly supporting the stop of a ban Im hoping on the night to highlight the benefits of ecigs to anyone who approaches me about them and create awareness of them while dispelling some of the myths(grrr)
