Would you ever use them?

Let us ignore the mechanics behind it, let's say you have the exact same device as you do now. It vapes EXACTLY the same. Except for one thing, instead of pushing a button to make the device fire, it is an automatic. You can still use any tank system, atty, or carto. So you just inhale and the device fires. The draw is the same and function is the same you just don't push a button. Would you use this? It would be nice not having to worry about the device firing in your pocket.

No way. I prefer the manual button on my Provari. I don't want any accidental firing in my pocket, or with wind. I also want control over the device, not the device controlling itself as it pertains to firing the atomizer. For the underpowered ecig units it works fine, because they are now kept in their own PCC which prevents this. But for bigger devices like the Provari I own, NO WAY.

Nope. I want the control over the device, not the device controlling me.

If my carto starts to become flooded, I've learned to vaporize the juice some by pressing on the fire button for about 2-3 seconds before I inhale. I wouldn't be able to do that with an automatic. Continuing to inhale on a nearly flooded carto will most certainly flood it all the way and make it un-vapable. With a manual battery, I've got a chance to save the carto.

Same as if the carto is getting dry. I can do some primer puffs by inhaling without power on to bring more juice into the carto before turning on the heat. Can't do that with an autobattery.

Also, auto batteries become ruined if they get any liquid in them from leaking juice delivery devices. It shorts them out and then you got a dead battery. Although I don't drip on an atty, it is a popular form of vaping. However, it is quite easy for this to leak excess juice on top of the battery connect (the reason why many mods have a "drip well"). You couldn't drip on an auto battery.

I'm sure there's more, but that's all that I remember right now.

Baditude said it all pretty much.

And for the Vivi Nova lovers, how would you do your dry burns?

First you disassemble the tank, including the top silicone sleeve over the coil head which comes off rather easily. Don't do it near an open sink they are easy to lose.

once you have the little sleeve off, you just dry burn it like any other ce2 carto...make it orange...let it cool off...rinse and dry once more ..reinstall/reassemble

Do you drive a stick shift or a automatic?
Alan
I like shifting, it's more sporty... & there would be nothing worse then having a sport car with an automatic tranny (or a Provari) unless of course my clutch foot was broken (or my thumb/ trigger finger) but I'm sure there's a place on my desk for a high end Paddle shifter or with automatic options.

let me... But....
I started driving at 16, and love to drive. But lately it's too fussy in the heavy Buenos Aires traffic to stick shift. I love the auto on my PT Cruiser. If I want it to be a little sportier, the stick is right there to use.

An automatic batt can be an asset in certain situations, such as driving for instance, or when you have your hands full. But auto batteries are fragile, so I prefer having manual batteries. Maybe some day we'll have reliable auto batteries....

Sure.....but....

Not without a switch or button on the PV.

I should say I used manuals exclusively for several months and I just found them frustrating. I work with my hands, do a lot of walking and drive 50-100 miles a day. The manual just didn't work well in that environment.

Now I use an auto and I don't even touch manuals anymore. It's just so much easier for me to vape at work now, and at home. Never had the auto fire on it's own, not even outside with 30+ mph wind. And since I only use cartomizers, no real issues of leaking either.

Speaking of which, leaking can ruin manual batteries as well, just the same as "sealed" autos. As someone upthread said, that's why the better mods have drip wells.

And as some others have said, to each their own.

Really interesting that this post came up today. I've had 1 or 2 smoking dreams since I've started vaping, but last nite I had my first vaping dream. It was trying out an Auto, lol.

Might that mean I'm missing that particular part of smoking yet? Maybe. I think vaping works mostly because of imitation, and I don't remember pushing a button to smoke :).

If an automatic battery functioned EXACTLY the same as a manual?

    I can't imagine who wouldn't prefer that.
I know I would all day long.

i think an auto battery would remind me too much of the first really crappy e-cig i had and the reasons i bought APVs! The battery size was meagre and i had to carry 4 or 5 and use every usb port i could find to keep them all going - felt like spinning plates on poles! The cartos - oh yeah 2 days worth of ciggies in each one!! hahahaha!
Sure - if you smoke 3 a day!

That annoying blinking light - telling you off and that you cannot have any more puffs for 5 minutes!

no no no. That was better than smoking but god i'll never return to that primitive nonsense either! You keep your automatic battery and i'll keep my Silver Bullet and REO!

My Echo is 650 mAh, though they do go up to 1300 mAh, with a 3 ml cartomizer. Though it has a 5-second cutoff, it will immediately fire again and if you get the timing right the atty will fire near-continuously until you run out of draw.

Not trying to convince you or anyone else, just pointing out that the autos of today aren't the autos of 2007. :)
