Would you go back to smoking if liquid costed more than cigarettes?

As long as you don't need new gear, heads, or coils. Every proposed tax I've seen includes those as well.

I've thought of those too. I use and am very comfortable with mechanical mods, RBAs and RDAs, cotton, silica and SS mesh. I buy stainless steel and glass gear that will last a long time and is also easily repairable.

As for power supplies, making those is also pretty easy. All you really need is a battery, a switch and a way to hook it all up to a juice delivery device. Check out The Puck mod. That one is actually being used with NiMH rechargeable batteries that you can pick up cheap at Walmart.

For anyone who is reasonably handy and has made themselves self sufficient, the only thing that can become a real problem is nicotine.

I used to think I would but no longer. I heard they might even tax flavorings.

Flavorings are at most 20% of juice and with some of the more concentrated ones I use only 5%. Even if you double the prices of those it will not make much difference to the price of the finished juices.

As vaping takes more than just juice to vape, it already does technically cost more.

Based on responses in this thread (which could go for another 100 pages, and it'd still be the same), I'd say the nays have it.

It also tells me that if eCigs were harshly banned, the black market would be doing lots and lots of business. Anything short of current market, and vapers going to find a way to vape in most reasonably expensive method as possible; with very little to no desire to ever return to smoking.

Btw, I am a moderate smoker, so pretty sure question doesn't apply to me.

If they decided to tax liquid to the point that it was more expensive than buying a pack of smokes, would you go back to smoking? Even considering all the health benefits and not having to smell like an ashtray everywhere I go, I think I probably would go back to smoking. Yes, I'm as bad as the tax men, it's all about the money for me too.
NO! I've given them #$%!@*(s enough money over the years I've smoked  I got enough nic stockpiled for 4-5 years of heavy vaping so I am ALL IN on vaping for my well being ;)

No. I have stocked up enough 100 mg nic to survive an apocalypse. I also buy a lot of juices just to taste test to try to duplicate in making my own. I also have enough flavors, large bottles, to last years. I can make any flavor and lots of desserts so I'm good. I don't want to see a tax though because I still buy juices too. I could survive though. I think everyone should learn to make their own, buy some 100% nic (freeze it) and flavorings...and at least have a backup plan if things go sideways with vaping. It's better to be prepared than not.

I've also bought enough kanthal wire, rebuildable atomizers, mechs, batteries, and variable voltage mods that I could probably keep my neighborhood up in Vape gear for years too. I still keep buying more. :vapor:

Nic base properly stored in a freezer will last a long time. I believe a decade or more is very possible. Flavorings are another story. I don't know enough about it to say with any confidence, but I think even with refrigeration they might only last a few years and some not even that. Someone who knows more about this please chime in.

Zero is where it's at. Slowly start weening yourselves off of nicotine and you can continue to vape. I've gone from 12 to 0 in 4 months. I haven't noticed any withdrawals. A majority of vapers I've met have seriously reduced their nicotine intakes. I know it's different for everyone and many feel they need the nicotine but I think many would have the same success that I and so many others have. If you're at 12mg today set A date to get down to 8 or 6. Continue to move down till you're nicotine free or close to that magic number

I prefer to let my body & brain decide when I'm getting too much nic, and ween myself that way..

Not forcing it works much better, at least for me...

I'm certainly not trying to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't do. I think lots of people would realize it's not as difficult as it would seem. We've all quit smoking cigarettes, quoting nicotine is the next level for all of us at some point I would imagine.

This forum is full of new vapors, myself included. We can learn and progress very quickly. 3 months ago I was watching a YouTube video to Learn how to replace the coil in my mini protank. Today I'm building a sub ohm coil on my GP Paps and Patriot. My suggestion is in hopes that maybe a few people try and realize they don't need nicotine or they can successfully reduce the level. We're all still learning here.
It was just a suggestion

Whatever works for people, should they go that route.. Not saying there's a right way or a wrong way that works for everybody

Stepping down nic isn't that bad, you're correct.. As long as its done in a fairly reasonable manner, like not trying to do it too soon, or trying to cut too much at once

I quit cigs in August, was at 18mg as late as December, and now almost down to 3mg full-time.. probably stayed too long at a level or two, but that's fine

Experienced a couple bumps along the way, like the first few days or first week or two after a step-down.. But nothing unbearable

Keep in mind that not everybody wants to quit..

Though at some point, some might not have the choice to continue, either...

Yup, IMO nic is not any worse for us than caffeine.

This is the crux of it. I reduced to zero nic over about nine months and that was not hard for me. I suspect I could have done it in half that time and been just fine. After I had been at zero nic for months I added it to my juice again and found that I could enjoy it at will with no addictive side effects. In a perfect world it wouldn't matter, but in this world it sure is nice to know that I don't need to vape nicotine to stay off cigarettes.

Money lit a big flame under my .... to quit smoking. Just knowing that i replaced my expense for cigarettes for a brand new 2013 camry car payment. I would not go back to cigarettes, even if at times i might spend more on vaping... im comfortable where i am. And i already have started my DIY inventory.

Flavors are good for a year. Me and my husband go through juice like crazy. I'm sure I will be buying more flavorings after a year and just toss the old. I buy it in bulk at a much lower price. After a year if its not used I would slow down on how much I've bought to keep from wasting and restock.

I went overboard when I started DIY and bought 4oz bottles of almost all flavors. I also have dozens of smaller bottles of various flavor companies. I have enough to last years... But I'd have to toss it after a year :(. I'm sure flavors would never be highly taxed or prohibited because these same flavors are used for other things as well. That's a plus.
