Its been just over a year for my wife and I. We started out exactly like you with a couple of ego kits, they were 900mah batteries and CE4's but they did the trick for a pack a day smoker to 0 ciggs a day overnight. I started to dig into how attys work after I received my first metallic throat ripping vape off a brand new head.
The ego batteries didn't last long and once I started rebuilding those CE4's I needed more consistent power than the ego's can provide. Bought a couple mechs (KTS+ and K100) out of fasttech along with a charger and batteries and marched forward in increasing my vape quality. Found the protank, learned how to rebuild them and since then we have had nothing but top shelf vape quality and still using them protanks to this day.
Now I have enough wick and wire to last a lifetime, couple Provari's, couple dozen PV's and a army of protanks of all sizes. I didn't bother with PT3's since rebuilding them with the dual coils is a nightmare and rebuilding them into single coil units takes DualCoil right out of the PT3 and I have single coil with my protanks so why spend the coin on PT3's?
Bottom line is that its not the money saved by rebuilding your attys, its the enormous change in your vape quality but to get yourself setup with regular mech or mod, charger and batteries probably land you around 100 bucks and its a better investment than rebuying those ego batteries over and over again cause they crap out so quickly being the most knocked off vape product out there.
Google and Youtube are your new best vaping friends.

got genuine joyetechs.dunno if that matters or not.

i know sort of a pointless thread, but just cant express how happy i am and would like to thank you and your forum for pointing me in the right direction and answering my painfully noobish questions, you guys rock and ill certainly be paying it forward.. it could very possibly save my life.
Any post that shows that someone has had a positive experience in vaping in my opinion is *NOT* pointless, stand proud and keep on vaping :) Even if you have no intention of quitting (which I don't think everyone who turns to vaping has intentions of including myself) You're still taking a healthy step, and while I'm not doctor or medical expert by any means I would be willing to wager that while this technologycould save your life, it will most likely extend it a great deal :) I mean I feel worlds healthier than I did last year when I switched over. Don't get too discouraged with various bumps in the road with vaping either. The bumps are generally small, and even a worst case scenario where you are buying a new setup due to some massive failure, or loss of device or theft of device. Just think how much money you have saved and can afford to make these replacements from time to time :)

Thank you for sharing your success with everyone :)

Happy Vaping

My only recommendation, have two of what you like. Have a second eGo-twist charging while your using the other. Have a second Protank 2 mini on the ready if needed. 20 cigarettes come in a pack, whats wrong with having 2 e-cigarettes..

Oppies! I missed this advise and have spares for spares for spares now. LOL

haha, I know what nic withdrawal does to me. Only a good plan to have a backup e-cig, for just in case. Being electronic, things can "not" work from time to time. But if you now have spares and spares and spares, you are all good now :vapor:

Find what you like, what works, and have a back up for it.

i had 30 cigarettes yesterday. i had 3 this morning then i received my starter kit in the mail.i charged it up, and started using it. the full pack of cigarettes have not been touched since, some ten hours ago.

this may seem like no big deal, but you need to truly understand how dependent i was on cigarettes. i couldnt eat , drink a coffee, get in the car without lighting up immediately, and constant throughout the day.

i am shocked. i truly am.

WAY TO GO! I TOTALLY understand!!! I honestly do! 33 years a pack a day, and COULD NOT QUIT! Almost the same setup as yours at the start of this very long excruciating winter (november)....and I was smoke free. It took me a few weeks to finish the carton I had bought.....but after that....it's been smoke free for me too. I know it's a miracle, and I am glad you found it too. I love hearing success stories like yours. Heck...we all do! CONGRATS!
:toast:
By the way....lung darts smell gross now, and I am much healthier.

LOL - yeah, you're an evangelist now :). I know what you mean though, any time anyone asks about my PV or mentions they want to quit smoking I get excited and ramble on (even after almost 2 years of vaping)... When you see another vaper in the wild it's even better :).

its been some 16 days now or so, im around people smoking all the time. they smoke there cigs, i go out and vape while they do.100 percent replaced my cigarettes.couldn't be happier and the last two days started exercisng an hour a day and dont feel nearly as laboured as i did when smoking. its just very exciting to me as i figured id never quit, and this made it simple. nothing short of a miracle to me.

only thing is i like it that much i just bought enough coils and juice to last 4 months easy and a mig cigs starter kit and the innokin mvp2 kit, when really, the egos do everything i need, but what the hell.60 days of not smoking and its all paid for itself lol. the itis.

i know of only one other person in my area that vapes, but she already quit smoking some 4 years earlier, but picked up vaping purely for the hobby and tastes of the juices.she vapes non nicotene, itll be awhile before i get to that point, but nicotene the rest of my days im fine with if it keeps me away from the cigs

i dont want any now.the next day the thought of it was sickening. im still quit, i might drink 3 times a year if that, so im not too worried about relapse at all.

recently cut down to 16, got a new batch of 12 coming this week.might stay at 12 for awhile before scalling down lower.

i tried the old 24 mg juice i was using when i first quit after using a few bottles of 16, i found it way too strong now.i figure twelve should be the sweet spot for me now.

its all a process. 16 is doing you now....12 may do you tomorrow....but some days you may need a kick of 24. Don't overstress with reducing nic. You smoked for years and years...so let yourself get accustomed to this.

Kicking the rest of the garbage inside cigarettes was, at least for me, harder than the nicotine...so just keep at it. You are on a pretty amazing road.

i went ahead and bought 2 1000 mah batteries and have a charge case.i think this will do me for now, but its still early to tell. so far so good my buddy.

That will do as long as the batteries last unless you stick around this place. Keep hanging out here and discover how badly you need all the stuff you've never heard of before. We're good at that.

Awesome. I knew i was quit when my first kit showed up in the mail too, and back then we were using junk. I bought some Boge Leo garbage and made it work until I learned better. Never had another cig after the mail showed up that day.

Vaping went from good to great once the good mods and rebuildables started showing up. My kit now would blow the mind of the guy that opened my mail that day. What an evolution, from Leo to Genesis.

This thread made my day jdm.

It's never a bad post to see another smoker kick it for vaping. Congrats dude! I'm a 25year PAD smoker and I'm on week 3. I'm still floored. "wow" is all my girlfriend and I can say as well.

When I threw away my plastic cartos and got some protanks it changed my vaping experience considerably.

If you really want to blow your mind, build your own coils with cotton wicks. 9 wraps of 30g kanthal and a cotton wick and you'll be floored by how much flavour you can get out of a protank.

I can relate. I am 57 years old, I have been smoking a pack a day since I was 17. Over the years, I have tried to quit several times using any mean available (cold turkey, gums, patches) and never stayed off cigarettes for more than a month. I had totally given up on the idea of quitting.
I tried vaping on May 31 this year and I have not even been tempted to smoke a cigarette since. I like the sensations and flavor of vaping much better than I ever liked smoking.
I use the Kanger Tech EVOD starter kit, with a fruit flavored e-liquid at 12mg nicotine. Might try other devices later on, but for the time being I am perfectly happy with what I have.
