I'd seen an ad for some odd brand of e-cig many months ago. Thought the idea was genius! As someone who's tried to quit many times, I'd come to the conclusion that the largest obstacle for me personally was not the nicotine addiction... it was the sensation of having that smoke in my lungs and that disgusting feeling of poison all over my body that I loved so much. 11 years of classical conditioning ingrained a love for these sensations. What if i could give up the nicotine but not the smoking?
At any rate I googled for reviews using the brand as the major search term, found none. Decided to forget about it; i NEVER buy ANYTHING unless i read tons of reviews on it. Should have googled "electronic cigarette".
I live in NYC and packs are $10 each. Over the past 2 weeks I'd been smoking a bit more, up to about a pack of ultra lights per day. And I noticed the hit to my wallet. Decided to look online and order some RYO to curb the cost. In my searches i stumble on the e-cig, then this site. Wow. There's a huge community of enthusiasts reviewing devices, sharing experiences, promoting the e-cig? I spend about 12 hours soaking up knowledge and then know exactly what I gotta do.
Ordered the Pilot from PS and the first place i found Janty liquid (freeatlastecig). Ordered early tuesday morning, has not been shipped yet as of thursday night. freeatlastecig's site is frozen because they are having supply issues with Janty, and they said they couldn't ship my order until they had the supply. Really wanted to vape! My chest was hurting a little bit from real smoke since I was smoking more cigs per day. I was really hoping to have enough to get started by Friday, but that was not going to happen at all. So today I AIM MyVaporStore.com, seeing that they're NY based. Yes, they're in the city. I basically interrogated the guy to see if there were any way for me to come in physically and pick some supplies up. After discussion and planning, he decided to have an employee or colleague of his drop the stuff off to me on his way home (b/c he just so happened to live near me!). So, today at 3:00pm I have this convo with him, and by 8:30 I got the delivery and was vaping, with help from the usb bypass. I deem them to be good people. I definitely recommend these guys because their shipping is a low and flat 5.50, and they're not saturated with orders like PS seems to be, as indicated by some other happy customer raving about how quickly his order was shipped in the myvaporstore subforum in this forum. So you'd probably want to use these guys if you want stuff shipped quick. My guess is that PS is so well esteemed here that most people will go to them first, and the quantity of incoming orders increased too quickly for them to fill and send orders immediately.
myvaporstore didn't have the m401 so I got the DSE 901. I blow out the primer fluid from the atomizer and load up with Virginia juice, and get to business. It's weird. Took a minute to get good primer puff technique. I start taking bigger and bigger puffs. Damn... this stuff really hits your lungs! Like everyone else, my first hour with the thing was spent puffing nonstop. Don't do this. I was on 6mg nicotine and it was still too much (though, I was an ultralight smoker). You don't realize you're taking in too much nicotine until its too late. The dirty body feeling is noticeably absent, but this is what I must sacrifice. It is only one small component of the addiction.
the DSE 901 is great. My first impressions was that it was a little plasticky feeling. I don't like the flat mouthpiece, and wish it were a tad bit easier to draw from. But hey, it works really well. I was puffin like magic dragons. It seemed to hold a very respectable amount of liquid. Love that deep, heavy punch to the bronchial tubes, with none of damage and pain. I gotta learn to gauge how much nicotine i'm taking in, but after that I'm golden. e-cigs kick lung. Iluvitiluvitiluvit. Can't wait till all my m401 stuff comes in.
So the point of this long story is for me to express my happiness and also to thank all the wonderful people here who have helped to amass all this freaking information on this wonderful new contraption. I can't wait to experience the subtle joy of having healthy lungs. God bless.
