I am determined enough this time around quitting that I decided what the heck and got myself one of those nifty banners to add to my signature. I am glad I did because it really drives it home that in only 4 days I have already not smoked over 90 cigarettes! That is a LOT of :censored: smokes! And to think I put in the amount I had cut back to, not the amount I used to smoke. I used to be 2 or more packs a day depending on stress levels and I don't even want to think about how many I went through on a good party weekend. Uhg

I have a feeling that banner down there is going to be a good motivator to keep my conviction strong. Forget the money, just the thought of how many of those things I actually smoked over 33 years is making me a bit sick right now. Blargh:ohmy:

It really does make you think. My regular banner doesn't say how many avoided, so I just checked it with ECF's banner maker... 177 days, nearly to 180... over 3500 cigarettes not smoked!

I did a rough calculation at one point, and in 39 yrs of smoking, I probably did away with a quarter-million cigarettes. At the very LEAST.

Of course it also boggles my mind that my puff counter says 291 and that started at noon today.

How does that even happen?!

It might not be all puffs; it's actually everytime you pressed the fire button -- I can rack up 10 "puffs" easily if I'm dry-burning a coil.

But the thing about habits is that you do them unconsciously -- when I still smoked, we'd be driving along, and I'd go to light a cigarette. My husband would look at me like I had 3 heads, and say "you just put one out!" News to me. I'd thank him for his service as a member of the smoking police, and light it anyway. :D

On an average I probably rack up somewhere near 400-500 a day. lol. i tend to shut mine off from time to time though. I do chain vape a lot as well.

Mine shocked me. I was smoking about 2 packs a day when I quit. Now I vape a LOT. I started ignoring the puff counter on my MVP when it started rolling over (and when I got the IPV mini). the MVP doesn't see a lot of action nowadays but I'm still smoke free after 5 months. The money I've saved hasn't been a lot with all the stuff I've bought as my setup has graduated, but I'm still ahead. Just recently started doing my own liquids, that will save a LOT since I go through 8-10 ml a day (and I don't drip).

Congratulations! I really hope you stick with it, and I'm sure you will. There's a lot of good stuff available nowadays.

It does indeed add up quickly :)

I smoked 1.5 packs a day for seven years. Seven years too long. I don't count my parents smoking when I was growing up, but the amount of secondhand I got. Dang. I guess I was a pack a day smoker since birth in that case. In the house, in the car with the windows rolled up, in restaurants, didn't matter. All my childhood memories are foggy. Not from a bad memory bank in my brain, but because I was always surrounded in a cloud of smoke.

I think other than my lips and toes, my banner is the most impressive thing about me.

All jokes aside (yeah, I can do it every now and then) I am simply aghast at how many cigarettes I was actually smoking. I knew I was wasting money but at the time I did not care, but honestly did not realize how many I was smoking or how bad they smelled. Other than my son. . . my proudest accomplishment.

When I quit for the second time in 2012 I had an app on my phone that tracked how much money I had saved not smoking. I figured out how long it would take to pay off my new mod, batteries, etc... with the savings from not smoking. That was really good motivation to not smoke during those early months.

I just did the math based on the 62,000 analogs I haven't smoked, about $12,750.00 saved, plus my life.

Good for you! Beating that tobacco habit is a tough monkey to shake off your back. I quit smoking after 35rs but did the stupid thing and continued on with the tobacco snuff/dipping for about 3yrs. Now, I found the vape world. The first day I got my starter kit the tobacco went in the garbage. I love my new vice. :)

And when I add to that playing on jungle gyms, merry-go-rounds, teeter-totters, and on and on into my "early growing up years as a wild teen", it even amazes me that I am still amongst the living!
