Wow, the flavor difference between a cartomizer vs. Vivi Nova is insane...

I find my vvvn are good with some juice and mute the flavour of others. I have only tried cheap cartos but don't like them. I find t2s also mute the flavour of some juices but then I'm still new and somedays can't taste much lol
Wanna try these carto tanks everyone keeps talking about but need to find the money.

Moral of the story, everyone is different. Lol

I got an inexpensive 3.5ml smoktech DCT, so this is a bit of an update.

Primed and loaded with Gandalf juice. I'm actually getting less flavor. Not burnt at all, and no filler taste. Decent amount of vapor but not a ton of flavor.
Now the jury is still out, because it is a smoktech dual coil. I've tried every setting on my VV device, and still not much joy. I'm going to order a set of the smoktech single coils just to make sure it's not the dual coil that's messing things up.
Vaping on a 1100mah vision spinner. I can go up to 4.8 volts. Maybe the dual coil is made for higher and is messing up the works.

Outside of the flavor thing, it's working beautifully. The only other minor gripe I have is that it's a pain in the .... to unscrew the carto and tank from the battery, and I'm getting juice everywhere in the priming, filling and re-filling process. It's a bit more fiddly than the Nova clearo, where you just dump the juice in and vape. No mess. No leaks.

I was actually less than pleased with the dual coil Smokteks. I've heard it said that for a dual coil to really shine, you need to pump at least 4.8v into them. Once I made the switch to single coils I could tell the difference. Also notice an increase in battery life, as the dual coils do use more battery, despite what some people say. And, I have since changed again to the Ikenvape, which I believe have a different polyfill from the Smokteks. Flavor seems more pronounced if only subtlely, and they seem to last longer in the tank, too.

The comment about getting juice everywhere in the filling process had me laughing. I remember those early days. Once you get a ritual down, you'll only waste a few drops of liquid here and there. The Slap-Yo-Momma tank tool helps with this process. I can refill a cartotank in less that 2 minutes, and set up an entire new tank in about 5.

Ive been reading alot on this forum and others and find that its different for everyone. Some love tanks,
some dont. Some like cartos, some dont. Me, I like it all, so I have a few ecigs going at the same time.
Some days I like dripping, sometimes I like to use a tank. I dont have a favorite way to vape. I guess
my taste buds are very confused and cant make up their mind. Or their spoiled and just want it all, lol

I have been using ce4 clearomizers for a while now and I love that I can fill and go but I know that cartons are better.
Cartos are a pain because you have to drip and fill more often. I bought a vivi nova and the taste and vapor are horrible.
I am still stuck on my ce4 clearomizers but I now have a tank with carto setup but I am waiting on my provari mini to arrive next week to try it out. I'm sure it will be a lot better. I think everyone including myself needs to start tasting our juice again even if we have an extra hassle. 2013 is almost here and someone needs to design something great that does not take much work. Waiting on a perfect clearomizer if possible.. Not yet. Maybe they need Pyrex clearomizers with some new material other than a wick.

I have the opposite experience too. Can't stand the filler taste in cartos. (Except Volt cartos, where the filler is seperated from the coils.) Love my clearos and my Vivis. I guess that's why we have so many options. :D

I am the same even with Volt Carts which I used to love and keep for the times when convenience is needed. However after using clearos I find the mellow flavour of the juices I like, fruity now, is retained so much better. I prefer the clearos too cos I never get juice in my mouth. Many options we sure do have and when it comes to EJuice, all I can say is 'What a World!' Vaping on and cheers,

:) Way to go! The fun in the game is in the chase. I haven't done much dripping but will. Cheers and vape on!

Any time I've used a cartomizer, all I can taste in the filler wicking inside. It taints the juice.

Why all the hate for vivi novas? I have gotten excellent flavor, throat hit and vapor production. I'm sure something could do better but in the realm of physics I don't think anything could do dramatically better.

To each their own. I plan on venturing out and trying many different pieces of hardware but for now 14$ stv vivi novas are durable and insanely easy to clean and fill. That's something you can't say about carto tanks.

I used carto tanks for quite a while & I liked them a lot. But, I got tired of them flooding. I've tried everything to keep them from flooding, but gave up. I've been using the Vivi Nova tanks recently & like that they don't flood. They taste fine with my juice, they clean & fill easily, I'm just happy with them. I also like the Stardusts.

I've tried many different dual coil & single coil cartos, I've tried 1.5 ohm & 3.0 ohm, 1, 2 & 3 hole cartos, & they all flood on the first or second filling of the tank. I tried everything to stop it, but I just gave up. I'll stick with the Novas & stardusts & devices like them for the time being.

I like the vivi's mostly for the ease of use. Easy to clean and rebuilding the heads make them a lot more cost effective vs carto tanks. I still like carto tanks, I have bad few Phiniacs and a Bella. I got some mount baker Arnold Palmer I'm going to have to use a phiniac with because I heard it doesn't work to well with plastic tanks due to the lemon.

Like I've said before I quit using carto tanks due to bogegate. I recently got a PIF where she included some kanger horizontal coil cartos I'm looking forward to trying them.

I really experience the opposite, but I rebuild the vivi heads to my liking. Please PM me if you decide to classie your vivi stuff.

i like the vivi nova tank better than the boge carts also. i only been using the 2.4 ohm ones. i think there are 3 version of the vivi novas. i've been using the v3 even with cinnamon juice no cracks or leeching so far. to each his own. plus there are knock offs out there to (vivi nova)

Who peed in your wheaties? I like the vivi nova myself. I know it's not for everyone but you don't have to call it garbage. That may be hurtful to some people.

By the way pbusardo sure does like them and I'll bet that he has tried a few more devices than you have.

i agree with you also.

You might want to look at his recent videos on youtube.Every one Ive ever seen he's using a carto tank. Was using one at Vapercon as well :)

Im not knocking the Novas at all but if youre using higher vg juices like Hype (one of Phils favorites) theres a drastic difference in taste between them and a carto tank. Not so much with higher pg blends IMO and I think thats due to well documented wicking issues with any clearomizer out there.

I know people are calling a Vivi Nova a tank because of the tube but at its hearts its still a clearo in the way it wicks juice.
