:sigh: now from what I am reading I should have also tried the 306 cartomizer as well... I went for the LR 510 Boges but now am realizing that SR may be the better choice for me.

How do the longevity of the Boge 510's compare to the 306's? I would prefer not to replace my cartomizer more than necessary given $1-$3 can add up really quickly.

I'm overwhelmed too. I've been a member for only a short time and already have questions re: pv hardware. I've been looking at the Riva special edition 510 starter kit. I am still on analogs and thought that I would like to try the e-cig as a healthier (and tastier) alternatvie. I still haven't ordered a start kit as price and warranty seem to be more of an issue for me than most noobs.

I feel your pain. Also, finding eliquids you like is hard. Thus far I have only liked about 30% of what I have tried. The Halo Tribeca is my favorite and I think most analog smokers will find it pleasing.
I highly recommend Mom&Pop Vapor Shop. Their juices alone have helped me kick analogs for good. Their prices are awesome, made in USA, excellent service, and their juices are delicious and complex in flavor. I'd get a sample pack for 25 bucks includes six 10ml bottles(thats very
inexpensive). I have tried lots of vendors and have mixed my own along with friends but it wasnt till I fell in love with m&p's juice I gave up analogs. Quality product that is so affordable. ALL of the flavors are good, tobacco and non tobacco.
Have fun :)

Don't get overwhelmed. Here's my first experience:

About 3 years ago, I had started noticing "water vapor" cigarettes advertised on TV. after enough curiosity, i went online and did a little bit of poking. The first link I clicked on was the Blu CIgarette website. Merrily, I got excited that it was so much cheaper than the ones advertised on the TV. Silly me. I dove headlong in without a second thought and dropped a cool 60 bucks altogether for a kit with a personal charging pack (PCC). At first, it was really cool. then, week three came along...

i was already receiving wicking problems with the filler in my cartridge. a month in, an atomizer burned out. three months in, I dropped a battery and it came apart. To top it off, I discovered that Blu has awful costumer service. I had already recommended them to friends, and a couple bought them. This was when I started looking deeper into the internet than google's page 1.

I found a cheap vendor online through amazon and bought some 510 batteries thinking they were "generic blu cigs" (LOL what a NOOB!). When they arrived, i was more than slightly confused, but noticed the threads fit my atomizer. so I screwed it in and merrily resumed vaping, for the moment.

being used to Ni-Cad batteries, i drained each battery before recharging them, recharging them in my blu usb recharger after. OOPS! It just so happens that Blu Cigs wires their + and - directly opposite of the industry standard. each of three brand spanking new batteries, fried. Of course, I had no idea this was the case and lamented to the skies, wailing in ash with the gnashing of teeth.

Then, as time went on, I got a little more versed, a little more experienced - found more reliable information, started using egos, tried tanks, tried an assortment of cartos, tried passthroughs. Now, i'm in search of the indestructable, so I'm starting to branch out into mods and rebuildable atomizers. There's definitely a learning curve to this whole experience, and you can settle wherever you feel most comfortable. And if you get bored with that, there's gonna be something new to try down the road. (I'm still very curious about what I read was the "original design" for the nicotine-delivery system using ultrasound...)

As for liquids, it's almost entirely preference there; someone complains that a particular flavor tastes too much like the candy-version of the flavor, but someone else LOVES the candy banana flavor (I've recently been enjoying Cinnibiscus from Madvapes.com, which really tastes like a hot cinnibon). Someone swears by PG juice, but others have an intolerance to it, or just prefer Vegetable glycerine (I like tank systems, so I usually use a mix of PG and VG). I've bought from people because they were highly recommended, and been unimpressed. I've bought some stuff simply because it was cheaper and been pleasantly surprised.

Also, as far as Tobacco Flavors go, My preferences:

RY4 - caramel, chocolatey sweet
Desert Ship- Tastes the way a Camel smells
French Pipe - Solid tobacco taste, mild-medium
Turbosmog - nutty, sweet but not too sweet
555/Highway/DK - Solid full bodied smoke-type flavor. Peanut aftertaste, which varies (some people make this recipe differently. My experience has been that 555 tends to be sweeter, with an almost peanut brittle flavor, while DK is very unsweet, and comes across as slightly bitter. I prefer the former.)

Black Clove - This is like Djarum Clove Cigarettes, if you ever smoked them. The Flavor is very strong, though, and I always water it down with VG.

Don't like:

M. Bros/Marl Bros/Etc
Tobacco (Sometimes this has a flavor that teeters between "floral" and "moldy")
Most other generics trying to emulate brand name smokes.

I used to smoke Luckies and bugler rollies, though. I still do, sometimes. Now, though, I prefer having a palate to play with when I "smoke", and when i do use tobacco flavors, I use it as an undertone to mix with other flavors.

Well, I got the Icon from Pure Smoker and I am loving it. While it is only a 3.7, it hits hard and it gives a good throat hit on virtually any fluid. I am using the Boge carts...not sure if I will stay with them or not but I absolutely LOVE the Icon :D

I'll give these a shot too. I've had luck with Pure Smoker and Halo but I am always ready to try new things.

What juice are you using? Oh, and congrats!! :vapor:

Thanks! :)

I am using as my daily the Halo Smooth 8. Pure Smoker's Tango Tea (I think that is what it is called) is one I used a lot too. Then occasionally Fire and Ice or another flavor from the Halo sample pack, but the Smooth 8 is really what I generally use.

Hi -

Yes, this subject can definitely be overwhelming, but I have a simple solution for you. I did a hell of a lot of research before I bought anything, and came to the conclusion that Joye made very good stuff. After starting with a 510 with separate atomizer/cartridge, then moving to cartomizers, I now have the Joye Ego-T (tank) system with the 1000 mah batteries (and I USB pass-through which is a must-have for me), I couldn''t be happier. [A "pass-through" is just a normal-looking battery with a bottom cover that unscrews and reveals a min-USB port that lets you plug the battery into a USB port on your computer (or, I suppose, into a charger), so you can vape forever. I just needed mine when I ran down my last battery. Just plugged in the pass-through and I'm back in business].

With the Ego-T, you can use the tank and tank atomizer, or cartomizers, or you can drip onto a stand-alone atomizer, or you can use one of the new tankomizers, which I haven't even tried yet.

Are there better systems out there than the Joye Ego-T? Maybe. Is it a no-brainer to get one? I think so. I'd compare it to buying an Audi or a BMW. There are better cars, but they're just fine.

When I did my research, I obviously just looked to see what devices kept getting mentioned and recommended. That is why I'm giving you my opinion of this one.

(As always: please, no flaming; remember, I didn't claim this system is the best).

I started vaping back in September and have never looked back. This is so much fun and I still don't know everything.
I have tried 100's of juices, own a couple of PV's, have made a couple of box mods and last but not least I have actually turned several people from smoking to vaping. I am very proud of that last one.

Welcome to vaping, don't be so overwhelmed that it spooks you. There is almost too much that I don't believe any one person knows everything thats happening in this industry.

Basically, I have settled on three setups, all using a variant of the Ego battery. Whilst sitting at my puter, I use a 1000mah passthrough Ego C tank. When watching the tube, I drip. I love dripping as that's really the only way to get the true flavor out of your juice. When out and about, I use cartomizers. IMHO, the tank is pretty optional. A couple of big batteries (passthrough preferred) a couple of atomizers, a drip tip and some cartomizers and you should be set. Oh yeah, and juice that you enjoy vaping.
