Dude, I'm back in college after twelve years. Back when I was fresh out of high school and a college freshman, there were all sorts of "make fifty bucks doing this taste test" and such in the marketing/business wing. I got to sit in a room and taste soda pop and got paid $50 cash to tell 'em which one tasted good. I think I made an impact when I said, "It tastes like Dr. Pepper, which is the wine of soda pop."
Man, now that I'm back in school, I need to look for those things. They're always tabs on pieces of paper tacked to pin boards. Do these things still exist?
I attended one of those things, probably 4-5 years ago, no idea. It was before Camel Snus came out.
My city was chosen as one of the "testing grounds" of Camel Snus, so they had consumer opinion things before Camel's Snus even came out. We got to try their product and chatted for about an hour, there were like 8 or so other people there, it's been awhile I can't be sure.
So they still do them, I'd like to know where you can sign up for this stuff, as I just got approached by a dude at a mall here and asked if I wanted to take part. It's always fun getting to try stuff before it's released into the market.
I Back on topic:
IBT is definitely not on our side, but their immediate goal (making ecigs "legit") is the same goal most of us have. So in that sense it would be smart to be supportive in their efforts.
Although who knows what their long term goals are. Could be to edge out smaller companies, but I seriously doubt it. There are small "craft" cigarettes for sale, they aren't a threat to BT because most people don't know or care about them.
I think it will be the same with ecigs. Most people don't know or care about the higher end ecig stuff. I'd imagine BT is going to just release cig-a-likes and try to corner that market, as that's what most people start out with. If they can keet hat customer base, they'll do just fine, and have no reason to bother with higher end ecig users.
If they made something nearly identical to the Njoy king, and sold it cheaper, in larger quantities, I bet you BT would make a killing. They have the means, mmanufacturing base, and distribution network to make something like that work.
Personally I'm happy BT is getting involved in the ecig game... I have a lot more respect for them than I do big pharma, THEY are the real evil dooers in this whole game.
At least everyone knows ciggs kill you. Doctors aren't being paid off by BT to suggest dangerous cigarettes to their patients (at least not anymore

)
It's a battle of giants and I'm rooting for BT myself...
