Wraps are usually determined by the ohm you're shooting for. If you're getting 2.4 ohms with a 5/6 wrap of 32g it would take more wraps with 30g to get 2.4 ohms. I wouldn't go over say 6 wraps max though as it takes to long to heat up, I usually try to stay at 5 or under.

34 ga is ok, depends on what your using it for but it's kinda thin. I tried and didn't care for it on my AGA but I use it for my dripping attys. If you're talking Genesis my experience is don't go any smaller than 32 ga and 30 works better for me any lower and I have to do to many wraps with my regulated pvs.

4 WRAPS! Be that a 3/4 a 4/5 or a true 4. Definitely the best. Most surface area covered before losing ground to slow kick.

Not necessarily the case, but generally they work more efficiently. Depends on the juice really, and what kind of flavours you're trying to get out of it.

On my did clone with a 3/32" wick I'm finding 32g, 5/6 wraps at 2.3-2.5Ω works best with my PG liquids. I wonder how the 34g would work with less wraps... I might try it next.
I like 4 wraps. The diameter of the wick determines what wire gauge I use. I use anywhere from 28 to 32, depending on the wick, and the resistance I'm looking for.

ricks....the more coverage over the wick the better the taste generally....so generally more wraps the better but then it might get slow to kick. What didn't you like about the 30g wire....it responsiveness or the taste? IF you have a provari v2 make 5 or 6 wraps with the 30g....but since it seems you have a chinese VV device, you have to do a lot of wraps with the 30g wire which will make the coil a little unresponsive. 34g sucks....way too thin....you will be popping coils left and right....better to stay with 32g wire and the 5/6 wrap you are doing.

I used to build 5/6 wrap coils, at about the same ohms. I eventually found that I like a little lower resistance. I like about 1.5-1.7 on my vv/vw mods. About .9-1.0 ohms on my mechanicals.

I believe its your vv device at fault here....it doesn't have the power to push the 30g coil to get it hot enough and fast enough with so many wraps. While it has a 1.2 ohm cutoff which doesn't allow you to have less wraps. My Vamo had problems with it as well....while my lambo handled it much better. This is why people pay the extra bucks and get the Provari.

I'd stick with the 32g...it seems that you are doing well with it. IF you ever get a Provari...I definitely recommend the 30g wire. It is better in every way...way more stable builds and easier to set up vs 32g wire. But even better than that is getting a mechanical mod and 28g wire and build sub ohm coils for the best vape possible....easiest set ups and super stable set ups....no comparison. Of course all this is my opinion and YMMV.

Edit: If you ever try to use 30g wire on you current device try to do one less wrap....even two if you can. If it is still not working well (like when I tried with my Vamo)....you have to press the switch for a second or so before taking a hit. Then when the coils heat up after a few hits you can vape normally.

Rick, what RBA are you using, and what is the diameter of your wick? I'm currently vaping a DID on a Provari. The DID has a big wick hole. My wick is 1/8" dia. Wrapped 4 wraps with 30ga kanthal. 1.7Ω. It's hitting a ton, both flavor and vapor. 70PG/30VG.

Provari v1 or v2? I think you said your wicks are 3/32....so 6 wraps would give you about a 1.4ohm coil.....that would work great with the Provari v2. To be honest even the 8 wraps at 1.8 ohms should have worked with the Provari.....but you have to vape at higher volts for it to heat up the coils efficiently.....since the wire is ticker it won't taste burnt at higher volts.

I use 80/20 pg/vg tobacco juices.

V2 On the provari. My wick is 3/32 on my did clone. I don't use the provari much. I like my robust because I don't like large pv's. I will try the 30g again tomorrow. My wicks are not oxidized also. I might have had an issue with the wick when I tried the 30g before.

Setting up an unoxidized wick on a Provari is a little tough. It's easier and quicker to set it up on a mechanical mod, and then switch it over to the Provari afterward.

whats this low resistance and mechanical mods?

Oh, you noticed? Yeah, I got a mechanical a while back which I only wanted for setting up un oxidized wicks. Then, one day, I decided, what the heck, I think I'll set up a LR coil, and see how it goes. I set one up at .9Ω, with 28ga, and vaped a couple tank fulls. I'll say this. I like it sometimes, depending on the juice. It vapes great with some of my DIY tobaccos and RY4 type stuff. I don't like it with some of my sweeter juices.
