I just recently tried the Kanthal D Ribbon resistance wire (.5x.1mm) on my AGA-T2, and I'm enjoying it very much. 4 wraps comes out to 1.2 ohms. Everything (taste, vapor, and throat hit) seems to be better on it vs. the round resistance wire. I have tried various gauges of the round kanthal (32, 30, and 28 gauge) and I like the ribbon wire the best. Though I'm only using the AGA-T2 on an ego 18650 battery mod, seems to be working really nice. I'd like to purchase a vamo and see how it works with vw.

Boy where was this post a few days ago when I was ordering all of my stuff for the aga-t:evil: Got the coil oxidized and did 4 wraps with 34. Using the ohm checker on my vamo read at 3 made sure I had everything tightened down then read constant at 2.4. did a test fire @ 8w where I normally am with everything else and pop goes the coil. First time building a coil and took forever so I could get it all correct and now already dicouraged:unsure:

How wide is your wick?

I use a paper clip with 3" and wrapped nice and snug around that. It is 1.5" long. The bit I used to make the coil fists in the wick hole with very little room to move. The wick came out first try e exact size sliding into the coil snug but not overly tight. I decided to try again but added a wrap and lowered th watts down to 7 and did not pop it. Fired before putting the wick in the coil and it was firing from the center out. With the wick in it fires without popping but the very top off the + next to the wick does glow.

Use a thicker gauge wire, like 30 or 32 gauge, lower the watts down a little for better results. The top coil leading to the + connection glows hotter if the top wrap is too tight, too loose, or to far away from the center post. Another tip is to wrap clockwise around the ground screw (inside between the screw and wick) and counter-clockwise on the positive center post. Hope this helps. It gets easier the more you do it.

I will give it another go later. I will get some 30 and try that. Oh well 100 feet of 34g down the drain. I did the post both clockwise and wrapped the coil counterclockwise as seen in another thread.

Hang on to the 34 gauge kanthal, you never know what they are going to invent next! I bought 100 ft. spools of 32,30, and 28 gauge, and all I use now is the Kanthal D ribbon wire. So don't feel bad, I have resistance wire coming out the wazoo!
I don't know if you have seen this yet or not, but fast forward to the end of this zen atty pro video. He has a really nice close up shot at wrapping a coil and correcting hot spots if needed. I found this really useful when I first started wrapping coils.

sweet! with all those toys you need a variety of varying resistaces, say that fast 3x's

Yeah, it's fun fooling around with different resistances, and using both VV/VW devices as well as the mechanicals, which I've recently gotten into. I just got my three Provaris back from being upgraded to Version 2. So I've been lowering the resistances on them as well. I have a 1.2Ω coil on one of them, in a DID, and it's pretty sweet. I set up one of my mechanicals yesterday at 1.2Ω, and it wasn't great. It was just ok. So I redid it this morning at .9Ω, and like it much better.

Yep, under 1 ohm it's definitely a heavy hitter. I tried 28 gauge kanthal with 4 wraps on an aga-t2, and got .7 ohms! Hits like a freight train!

It does. I can't say that I like it with all juices. I DIY all my own, and some just can't handle that kind of wattage. It's why I like having vv/vw option sometimes.

I hear ya there. I also make my own juices, and like you said, not all can handle it. Especially the sweet ones. I don't have a vv option yet, still using an ego-t 18650 mod, but I think I'm just gonna take the plunge and get a provari. I have wanted one since this time last year when I started vaping, and just never got one because of the price tag. I was tetering on the idea of getting a vamo because of the vw option, but I'm ready for a quality device.

is it expensive to upgrade the v-1 to v-2?

not only is it a case of quality with the provari v-2, it also handles resistances as low as 0.8, instaed of like 1.3 for the vamo
