You may have that in your juice now. I would suggest syringing it out to an empty bottle, dripping a couple of drops of vg or pg on the wick and firing it a couple of times to clear the wick and to make sure it's producing vapor from all the coils. Then drip three or four drops of your juice on the wick, put your cap on, set your voltage to 3.7 and vape. If it tastes ok then fill the tank and vape away, if not repeat until you get all the hotspots worked out.
Test the juice you saved in the bottle by dripping a drop or two. If it tastes the least bit off do not try to rescue it. (Ask me how I know this lol)
It is odd and all I can tell you is from my own experience. Back when I was experimenting with my dud I once took it to 15 watts. That was the warmest vape I've ever had and the flavor was great. That same juice tasted great at 6 watts, terrible at 8 watts, and back to good at ~10 watts. I don't know what the explanation is but that was my experience anyway.
If you get the urge to experiment some more, go to the ohms calc site and type in the resistance of your coil and 3 in the amps and hit calculate. (3 amps because I think your provari has a 3.5 amp limit. If you want to push it more that's up to you) That will give you the volts to set it at and the wattage you'll be at when set to that voltage.

Ok here I go with a new wick attempt! Think I am going to only use a little over an inch of wire this time to get the resistance down.
I got it down to around 2ohm but still some hint of burnt taste. Going to try another type of wire soon. It also may be my juice so will clean it out later when the boy takes his nap and put something else a little thinner in it.
How are you wrapping your coils? I use the drill bit method on a non-oxidized SS wick. I only use a regular lighter to just kind of blacken the wick where the coils sits and adjust to remove the hot spots. It works great every time and keeps my liquid clean in the tank.
I oxidize with my mini torch 3 times. I have tried wrapping coils both clockwise and counter with better success clockwise. I do use the drill bit as well.
I prefer 30ga Kanthal, 4/5 wrap to approx. 1.7Ω on 1/8" porous ceramic wicks. That's my sweet spot.
Also, I have noticed when tank air intake is restricted, the flavor of the juice gets a little muted. Same with a dying, defective or inadequate battery, and why I stick with AW IMR ones. If you are losing flavor with 30ga Kanthal, it may be one of these factors.
